Terry Pratchett ( RIP ) is in my opinion one of the greatest Authors of our time. I have every book and have had the privilege to meet him several times. Truckers , Diggers and Wings ( the book you have been gifted in its three separate books ) is a great start for kids to be introduced to Pratchett's works.

Go easy on the Colman's mustard. It's not the mustard you're used to at all!! lol It will blow your nostrils! Lovely on a ham sandwich though...very thinly spread for me! So many generous people out there! I'm a Brit living in Michigan and it pleases my heart to see so many of my fellow country people being so generous and entertaining. I concur, definitely go easy on the English Mustard! Lol. There is an American lady on TikTok and FB I follow that makes food. She was sent a jar of Colman's English Mustard and was told in her comments by her British friends to go easy with it. When it came time to try it a few days later, she commented that she'd been warned by her friend from the UK, but she "LOVES" yellow mustard, and she'll be fine! She took a slice of white US bread, which is smaller and sweeter than ours in the UK. She did not butter it as we would normally do, she just put two large teaspoons of EM on one slice of bread, then two small slices of turkey on it, and went for it! To say that EVERY person that's ever eaten it, or knows about it, were already invested from the moment she poohoo'd it, and put the Mustard on the bread. By the time she went for a bite, and with her having already warned, we were alternatively cringing and gleefully laughing at what we knew was about to happen! And Fate didn't disappoint us at all! To say that the mustard did its job, is an understatement! You'll be pleased to know that her nasal sinuses and tear ducts are in FULL working order, and have been effectively washed through! And her ability to contort her facial muscles into a variety of different expressions! But, I'll give her her due, despite this rooky mistake, she did go back again and finish the half sandwich. 😂 Afterwards, bless her, she commented that she should have listened to her friends and that she mistakenly thought EM was like your yellow burger mustard out there. Which she now clearly knows it's clearly not! And yet, despite this, she said it has a nice flavour, and her husband was going to LOVE this! My brother and I could only wonder if that was what she was like with the jarred version. What would she be like with the Colman's English Mustard powder? Especially the stuff our uncle would make up for us at Xmas! He said that all he used was the powder and malt vinegar, but it would blow even our sinuses out! 😂 And my brothers would happily be able to eat CEM from the jar! We've all tried to make it like he did, but to no avail. Sadly, I guess it's something he took with him. So be careful with it! 😂

The yellow t-shirt is a charity t-shirt and depicts a character called pudsey bear. The charity was first televised in 1980 and features appeals for small children’s charities. I was about seven years old, and did an appeal for RDA (riding for the disabled association) riding a pony that I rode regularly at my branch. My Mum still helps run classes to this day. My disabled friends and I then appeared on a children’s programme called you and me. Before any reading this says it, yes I am old.

Chairlift on the Isle of Wight is at Alum Bay where the coloured sands are and near The Needles. The island is a wonderful place and you can get to the vast majority of it by bus. I first went there with a school residential when I was 10, staying away from my family for the first time, so I’ve always seen the island as a second home. There are ways to get the hovercraft cheaper by booking as part of a train ticket which includes the bus shuttle in Portsmouth too

The whole earth peanut butter is my absolute favourite. And what I like to do with it is make my own peanut butter oat bars. I melt the whole jar of peanut butter in a pan, mix in a 330 gram bottle of maple syrup and then once mixed, I add a bunch of dried porridge oats (I think that’s oatmeal in the states). I add enough of those to the point where it’s almost impossible to mix. Add the mixture to a paper lined baking tray, I cut them into bar sizes, add some sea salt flakes on top and put them in the fridge for them to set up fully. Steve, I know you’d really enjoy them. They’re super easy to make and extremely delicious

@@reactingtomyroots you’re more than welcome. They’re delicious. I forgot to add that I do put a small amount of salt within the mixture too, but for my own personal taste, I prefer it on the top as I feel it’s much more present and it really brings out the flavours within the bars. I hope you get to try making them at some point. Sophia would be able to help too as they’re really easy to make. She’d need help when mixing the oats in though as that can get quite tough. Hi Lindsey and Steve... Good to have you back with us again... I missed seeing you but guessed you might be away, or perhaps -- though, hopefully _not_ 'poorly' (unwell) again... Anyway, regarding those "Liver birds" and the "Liver building" ... Although Liverpool _is_ pronounced how you both said it, the birds and the building are both pronounced with a long 'i' (not a short 'i' like the town / city name) So... _Liver_ birds rhymes with _eye_ like Ivor, (do you know the name ' _Ivor_ ' - as in an *old British cartoon series* for children / or old people like me who loved watching *"Ivor The Engine"* when I was young!) ...aaaand now... Back to the 'Liver birds' !! _Lie_ver (or _Leye_ver) so the 'Li' part rhymes with 'by', or 'bye', or 'eye', or 'fly', the _Li_ver birds & the _Li_ver building. I hope that makes sense okay?! Just _another_ British word to remember, but I noticed Lindsey's got a great memory for pronouncing our 'weird & wonderful' British place-names.😏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿❤🇬🇧🙂🖖

With the Costco in England they are beginning to relax the rules on membership. You used to only be able to join if you were a member of a professional body like Emergency Services, teachers , lawyers civil servants or owned a shop a hotel or Bed and Breakfast establishment , now you can refer a friend so it is more inclusive. We also pay a yearly subscription of around £50 for standard membership or £75 for executive membership but with that one you recoup up to 2% of your purchase prices which in turn pays for my annual pass or almost! Our Costco has English products and not American products obviously the shipping would make it too expensive to ship items to the UK but the buildings and layouts remain the same as the American warehouses We love our trips to Costco but not all items are cheaper than the normal supermarket’s especially chocolate bars and other sweet treats. Fuel is on average 10-15 pence a litre cheaper at Costco

Oh- I hope you'll love the Pratchet trilogy! Some of th jokes will probably go over Sophia's head (not in a lewd way, don't worry!) but you should be able to explain why it's funny, then I'm sure she'll get it. A lot of it is the gnomes not really understanding human stuff, and making their own sense of what they see and read. The Isle of Wight is about 23 miles West to East and about 13 miles North to South. The Solent is the stretch of water between the Mainland and the Island. Although 'Liverpool ' is pronounced like 'liver', the 'Liver Birds' and 'Liver Building' are pronounced ''Lie-ver'. Horse radish is the traditional accompaniment to roast beef. Be warned - English Mustard is HOT!!!!!! Try it very sparingly until you've got the measure of it!

Yeah I didn’t get all the comments about it either, but then I was like ohhh so it’s a bit like seeing someone wear glasses for years and then they don’t and your brain is so confused. But yeah, at the same time I don’t get the fact people can’t get over it.

I'm reading this comment, sat indoors, (with a full head of hair), wearing a hat! 😁 I'm always surprised when I remember that my dad has a moustache, even though he's 82 and always had one! If he ever shaved it, I'd probably think there's something wrong with his face! 😆

I’ve recently came out of Papworth hospital now in its new location next to Addenbrookes hospital. Both hospitals are specialist care hospitals. I had a STEMI heart attack last September and got sent in an ambulance under blue lights and sirens. And after staying in Papworth ended up in Addenbrookes with complications. All up and running now. Cambridge is a great place to visit with the river cam running through it, and with the university campuses, its quite a place to visit.

The t-shirt is for children in need. It's a fundraiser the BBC do every year always on a Friday. People all over the UK take part. Schools get dressed up or can go in in PJ's or onesies for a small donation Businesses have bucket collections children donate pocket money etc. Work places do it as well. Every year a few million is raised.

You never let the custard go cold, thats why it melted the jelly. And the cake fingers at the bottom are supposed to be soft, not crunchy like a biscuit
@jessieb7290
@jessieb7290 3 месяца назад
You’d let it go cold in a trifle, so that you have cold layers of both, so they don’t separate and you can see the different layers; because you make it in a clear bowl. Once the layers are cold they can set better. So you’d do the jelly and then place in the fridge and then add cold custard and set in the fridge etc. If your eating custard with a pudding you’d eat it warm or hot.

Crisps are all marked as “Best Before” in the UK meaning they are perfectly safe for ever beyond that, they may just be a bit stale. If something is marked “USE BY” you must not consume it after said date

13:34 love all of Sir Terry Pratchett’s books one of my favourite authors, but sadly he’s no longer with us, but he did lots of books for young readers and up my Daughter is about the same age at Sophia so plan on reading them to her soon too, when I got to about 12yo I loved reading his Discworld novels I’ve got them all.

Horse radish thinly spread on a burger is great... Best served with roast beef, I like to mix it 50/50 with crème fraiche and eat with a juicy steak... bon apatite hombres.

If you don't like 'Spicy' be very careful with yellow English mustard ( Particularly Colmans English mustard). Don't be fooled into thinking it's like American French's mustard, It's very HOT and will blow your head off.

The Isle of Wight is stunningly beautiful and you should definitely visit it when you come to the UK but the crossing is stupidly expensive (it's one of the most expensive stretches of water, per mile, in the world i believe) so it's worth pre booking or finding some vouchers.

Steve, fiction is from the author’s imagination, and children love using their imagination! You should get into it for Sophia’s sake, because kids with no imagination are dull company. “Neverland” was about that very thing!

You have to eat a kitkat the correct way. Break off one line. Then bite off both ends. Suck tea through it like a straw ( keep sucking till you feel a bit of tea come through) and then eat. You are welcome! Although I’m not sure about dark mint flavour
