Thank you so much. I Under Stand step to add PV but I have a 1 Question. Can you tell me how to show the PV Results in monthly ??.I didn't see it in EnergyPlus Results and OpenStudio Results thank you and sorry for my English skills.

Good question. Go to the Output Variables tab and turn on "Electric Load Center Produced Electricity Energy". For the timestep drop down, select "Monthly". Run the simulation and then use DView to open the sql file as discussed in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8JlZrvenFBM.html. It is sort of strange, but the monthly results will be plotted on the first twelve days of January (representing 12 months).

Why is the rated capacity 0 for the photovoltaic?
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 Месяц назад
Good question. I think the OpenStudio results report has a bug or is grabbing the wrong data from the output file. I will have to look further into this.

I have some errors in my Openstudio model, for example some surfaces have errors, How can I delete them? in Sketchup model I deleted those surfaces but it in OS model is is been showing yet, what can I do?

Thank you for your explanations, however i have problems while exporting IDF after modelling photovoltaics. The error says "Electric Load Center Distribution is not referenced by any generators or transformers, it will not be translated." What is this problem about and how can it be fixed? I would be glad, if you can explain briefly.
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 2 года назад
It seems that a OS:ElectricLoadCenter:Distribution object was not created when you created the photovoltaics (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LAqn8bVE1Eo.html) This is the first question the script asks when applying photovoltaics. It should automatically create one in the OSM file. You may have to run the script again.

I have a question about designing PV in OpenStudio. When assigning PV to just one of the surfaces, what happens to the other sides of the shading, especially if we have given it depth? I used this approach, and in the IDF file, it shows one PV panel and five shading surfaces. My question is: why do we need to extrude the surface? Is it possible to assign PV to just one surface without extruding the surface? The PV I want to use has depth; can I assign PV to all extruded surfaces, or does only the top surface act as PV?
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 Месяц назад
The top surface only acts as a PV. It is not necessary to extrude the surface, and doing so only adds to the complexity and calculation time and does not significantly impact your model. The small extruded sides only provide a minimal shading and thermal storage effect. So, it is better to have only 2dimensional panels. The shading surface is also assigned a material property and thickness, so it still functions as a shading surface and thermal storage and radiation moderator. Depending on the material and thickness chosen, there may be a nominal radiative (and conductive) heat that goes through the material and impacts the building. You would not want to assign the PV to the extruded sides unless they actually contain photovoltaic cells in real life.

Can you pls do a video on how to add slab edge insulation for a concrete slab on ground and under slab insulation
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 3 года назад
Good question. You simply need to create a new construction that includes the specified insulation as one of the material layers. Then, in the spaces tab, surfaces tab, assign that construction to the appropriate surfaces. I you are doing this in SketchUp, you will need to edit the space, and select the surface. Open the Inspector tool, under Edit Object, Construction Name, use the drop down to select the construction that you created.

Hi, since PV are placed in a top of the roof, can it be an extra shading device of the roof, so it can cover the main roof from the sun array? thus making the roof room temperature lower than the roof without PV? Also if the model I created, only have 4 weeks weather data available, can I simulate the PV only for 4 weeks, so I can gather the PV result data (its KWH) per 4 weeks, not per year? Thank you
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 3 года назад
Yes, the PV will provide a shading effect to the roof. Yes, you can simulate the model for what ever time period you want. Go to the Simulation Settings tab on the left. Under Run Period, you can specify a date range to run the simulation.

Thank you very much, is it possible to model a PV glass and calculate energy loads in Open Studio?
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 3 года назад
Yes. This video discusses how to model the PV Glass. It only has simple inputs, so if you want more detailed PV modeling, you will need to either write a measure or use EnergyPlus directly. Yes, OpenStudio can calculate loads. For calculation of loads, you will need to see my other videos.

i want ask something. i need help. my thesis study need to connect Sketch Up, Open Studio and Energyplus in doing PV System. my design that, PV is the source energy in cooling system. the cooling system is simulated by energyplus. how i can connect PV system in openstudio and energy plus?? Could you explain that? thanks
@helixenergypartnersllc3540
@helixenergypartnersllc3540 6 месяцев назад
OpenStudio does not import cooling systems from EnergyPlus. You will have to set up the building model and photovoltaics with OpenStudio first and run the simulation. Then, go to the "run" folder and find the EnergyPlus input file called "in.idf". This is the file you will open using EnergyPlus. From there, you can model the cooling system in EnergyPlus. I am not sure if there is a way to directly connect the cooling system. I thing you will have to use the ElectricLoadCenter objects.
