The opened vowels comes from his mother language. In portuguese we have 12 phonemas: open, semi open, semi closed, closed and nasal phonemas.

Hello i am luiz , i live in armação dos buzios , rio de janeiro Brazil your reaction and explanations are great I will send your video for Gabriel to watch 😉 so... gabriel henrique didn't speak english and i believe he is almost basic fluent nowadays. this video that you reacted has been a while and nowadays his videos are much better in english. Gabriel Henrique is an evangelical/gospel singer and has lately received criticism for singing in his edited and pre-recorded videos. this made him kind of upset and sad because they think he doesn't sing as well as in the videos. so he made some videos inside the car alone with his cell phone. I would like to see you watching and reacting to basically all of Gabriel's videos and I will watch them all.

Gabriel is the best, if he was American, abritish, Irish or Australian eka as "the native English speaker" from so called west the music industry would massively promote him and he would bring a global superstar. But that's,ok, I'm a native Pole, grew up in central Europe and I see there's a lot of bias in tje American music industry against those that english is a second language. I loved Whitney voice and sensibiliity that is rather rare among US singers, and Gabriel has so much sensibility no fake facade that is common among American and other western musicians.

It is so refreshing to hear a technical reaction from someone who knows! Do not get me wrong, an emotional reaction is important as music hits us emotionally...but your reaction was both...and as a former older singer and someone who would like to get back into it, but life got in the way, I loved this reaction. I am certainly no Gabriel Henrique...more of a baritone ( sad because higher male voices are my favorite) but I miss it and this inspires me. Thanks!

Song starts...wait, he's going to sing this in the original Whitney key? He starts singing...he's not doing it down an octave? 2 minutes later....he's singing more than an octave HIGHER than Whitney?! Jesus... Musically, I don't like the choice to jump up the 11th into whistle-tone there, As it just doesn't make sense, but it will absolutely admit that he sang it well.
