Ren is a Poet, a Singer, a Rapper, a Musician, a Composer, a Songwriter, a Storyteller, an Actor.......An ARTIST. He's completely in a class by himself. He's a mix between the singer/songwriters of the 70s and the Bards of the 16th/17th century. He self-identifies his "genre" as BARDCORE. Ren was also a part of a band, "the Big Push"; they've got a bunch of videos also, especially of them playing live. Ren has suffered the last 10+ years with mis-diagnosed Lyme disease. He went into the doctors complaining of pain all over his body and joints. As they never found what was causing it, they instead said it was all in his head and treated him with psych-active/tropic drugs. Meanwhile, the Lyme not only damaged his body but also his brain. He's currently in Canada trying to heal his body. One thing that I never heard you mention, maybe because as a performer it's what you're use to and didn't find it So special is, that was done entirely LIVE. No pre-recorded music and lip-syncing in this video. Yes, there were multiple camera angles, but it was still LIVE (you can see the mic at the top of his gown).

Just to echo/add to the excellent summary from John.... only recently discovered this magnificent talent, although I'd see stuff by The Big Push previously. It's when you compare the drive/vigour and raw energy of The BP's music, with this post BP work (the band is no more, other than fabulous videos on YT) and realise the reasons for Ren's long term illness, that the full scale of this man's talent and versatility come into sharp focus. I really hope his current treatment gives him some long term peace and that he goes on to secure the fame that his talent demands. I have rarely, if ever, been so dramatically affected by a piece of art.

Lyme disease is known in the medical profession as the great pretender because it mimicks so many other diseases and also often remains hidden or dormant for years or decades. All this alone makes it incredibly difficult to diagnose what what makes it even harder most people who go to develop symptoms don’t even realise that they’ve ever been bitten by a tick because especially if bitten by an immature tick, they are almost impossible to spot, being about the size of a pin head. The percentage of undiagnosed people with Lyme’s is huge and growing as Lymes becomes more and more widespread. Conversely it seems some people appear to be lucky and have a natural immunity to Lymes. This is a horrible affliction that we still understand very little about. This is unlikely to change significantly in the near future.

I'm in complete agreement. This can't be viewed as a song, but a piece of artwork. He's obviously talented with the guitar, probably classically trained. The cadence of his music, even singing a capella, is on point, the range of his vocals and guttural stops are insane. The depth of his lyrics gives us all ACTUAL substance that we want, and can all relate to. The man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, and it is that authenticity that's lacking in the mainstream.

Great reaction! Ren is really bringing out the best in some reactors, making them break down and come to terms with serious issues on mental health and awareness. Well played. I would say maybe after you pause to rewind it by 10 seconds or so? It allows the flow to almost reset without starting exactly where you stopped it and possibly miss any meaning or musical crescendo. A tonne of top reactors always go back a little bit and I think it's helps. Just and observation. Keep going!

Then, when you're ready for rapid expansion, I'd highly recommend Nightwish, too. I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard this. The creative artistry, on every level, is second to none. The topic, the musicality, the setting, the cinematography ( I love the use of lighting, which helps emphasise the contrast between his two identities ) the lyrics and the passion of their delivery, the vocal control, the diction ( even at pace ), the incredible guitar techniques, the fact that a 9 minute song can hold our attention so intently for every millisecond. This is flawless, meaningful art and medication for the soul. I have posted so many links, of the song, and its reactionary videos, to my social media sites and I know, instantly, from the comments i receive, those " friends " who understand the difference between nice music and creative genius. I would suggest ; those who truly understand this incredible piece, have experienced some degree of mental health issues or at the very least understand the constant internal struggle of the human condition. Those who aren't emotionally moved by this piece of creative genius are, probably, the lucky ones who stroll through life without any real concerns or set backs.

This was a great reaction. I am so glad that he brought me to you. I am a first time viewer and an instant subscriber. This performance is sending shock waves around the world. It's so relatable to people in all walks of life. We all have inner struggles and demons that we have to go through. Whether it's doubt, self esteem, addiction or mental health issues. So, people are finding a connection to an unexpected place. Each other. I have seen reactors as well as people in the comments section telling stories about their own personal struggles and how they are coping each day. An amazing amount of people are reaching out, saying that they felt alone in their battle. To find an astounding amount of people saying that same exact thing. Proving the point, a falsehood the way no words can. I think that with just one song, he has proven his own words true. He IS a genius and the waves that he is creating are tsunami in scale. This may be more important than he could ever imagine.

This line is so damn deep, "As I got older I realised that there were no real winners, Or no real losers in physiological warfare, But there were victims and there were students" Psychological warfare meaning the lies, games and tricks our own minds play on us. Inner thoughts telling us one minute such positive and happy thoughts only to be trampled over and crushed by the thoughts of how worthless we are, we should give up whatever we do as individuals that we enjoy or do to express ourselves as individuals. But that Negative Bias we've been hardwired with since man first walked the earth and we needed it to survive back then, but now it only serves to destroy our own hopes and dreams with thoughts and words no one else can hear but us. And when he said, "But there were victims and students" meaning are you going to roll over and let that war inside your head keep you depressed, beaten and broken? Or will you learn from it, grow and be in better control of those thoughts when they arise.

Sometimes a piece of artistic work comes along that changes everything. When I first heard this piece I was blown away by the writing, then I was blown by the visuals of the dichotomy of the inner and outer characters, then I was blown away when I put the pieces together. I sat quietly for awhile and realized I had just witnessed one of the greatest pieces of art I have ever seen. To recognize in words that voice we all have both inner and outer than defines who we are. Our experience, our mental shape, our dreams and hopes and our regrets. I think over time this song and performance may be seen as one the greatest works of art to shape humanity in 10 generations. In an era of AI where braindead souls ask a machine for help, here we have a guy trying to figure himself out by himself and doing a damn fine job at it.

This piece is on par with Shakespeare but in modern form. it captures the essence of all emotions in an amalgamation and manifestation of the primordial struggle in the human psyche. An eternal battle that is as old as the dawn of time. This is more than just a song, it is apiece of art that i'm sure will last the test of time. It's quite hard to put words on the feelings of our inner struggles but this is spot on. And regardless of the severity of our struggles what he depict here is completely relatable to everyone and that is the genius and bravery of it. It takes some real guts and a really special person to be this vulnerable.

For a special treat you need to also look at "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" the full live version. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TYAnqQ--KX0.html It's a trilogy story in 3 songs performed like a Bard who would sing in middle century England. This is a stunning piece of art as well.

He has Lyme Disease but the Dr's thought he was crazy and gave him crazy pills & told him he was crazy for years before they figured out they were wrong; That he wasn't crazy that the misdiagnosis was killing him making bad thing far far worse.

@@themcsyoutubechannel You're very welcome. My brother hates this, and thinks Ren is nuts, lol. He's a cranky old musician though : )

And....this is a live piece of performance art. There are very few, if any, perceptible edits. He's jacked in, mic'ed up and wailing on this.

This is live and all one continuous take. He uses 4 camera men and blocks it out and blows out of the park with a mic on his lapel.

The Devil is "The Accuser" not just before God, for as long as you have consciousness, day & night it accuses your light.

Ren is right on time, at a time society needs to self reflect. Wouldn't this make an amazing idea for a modern opera if he fleshed it out? It's literally like a mini-English language opera if you think of it. It holds the ability to evoke strong emotion, first dark and then light, and finally triumphant.

If his duet titled, "Chalk Outlines," with a female artist named, Chinchilla, doesn't send chills down your neck... well, actually I can not imagine that to be possible so, yeah... it's like that. You're gonna want to hear that one

Spend more time listening. Less time worrying about you’re close up. And what’s to smile about.

well, a smart person can do both, seeing as how the close ups dont happen until the editing room by my editor.... not me

OMG, you need to react to a video by LP. Her blend of opera and folk vocals is something I think you'll find intriguing. I'd suggest "Forever for now". react to that song by LP, Please and thank you.

Older video at this point. I assune youve seen Ren's "The Tale of Jenny and Screech." Classically trained and employed musician, myself. That one is raw performance art, highest respect. Its a whole trilogy set, so you have to be dure youre seeing the fifteen minute version. A modern bard song.
