Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri is a Mexican singer, often referred to as El Sol de México (The Sun of Mexico), which is the nickname his mother gave him as a child-"mi sol". He is widely regarded as the most successful artist in Latin American history, having successfully performed in a wide range of musical styles, including pop, ballads, boleros, tangos, jazz, big band and mariachi. Luis Miguel is also recognized as the only Latin singer of his generation to not crossover to the Anglo market during the "Latin Explosion" in the 1990s.

Every time his fans sing along with him makes me cry to see how much they really love him. You should see the concert that he did in Argentina 1997 with the song ( Por debajo de la mesa.) you have to see it until the end. Listen how they chant his name Luis Miguel, Luis Miguel, and what he said to his fans.

Actually, the way they were saying "ayer" is the correct one in spanish (except for a couple of countries where both "y" and "ll" are pronounced as "sh"). What you thought the word should've sounded like might have been the way some people pronounce it when speaking quickly in a casual conversation: "aier". Anyway, thanks for the reaction. ♥☺

Many who learn to pronunciate the Y (ye) try with "ie" instead. Perhaps it is easier when learning Spanish as a foreign language.

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in South Lake Tahoe a few years back. 90 minutes of non-stop music from this Latin balladeer. I became a big fan of his. One of my favorites is the Tango, "El Dia Que Me Quieras" which has an official music video that is amazing. Here is an artist not afraid to make the song his. Originally written and performed by Carlos Gardel a master of the tango Miguel with amazing accompaniment takes you on a musical journey of romance. Throughout that song, you will definitely feel the tango genre come through. He's a Latin crooner the "Rat Pack" would have been proud to feature in their day. Thank you Maggie for the musical insight.

He is obviously a seasoned stage performer and has a cult following (mostly have teen and college-age girls I would suspect). He knows he has a good voice and is good looking and it shows. Powerful, well controlled voice. I only wish she was not quite as dramatic, looking down so much, but I understand different cultures also love the “extra” drama and expressions in their singers and also actors and actresses. "Cult following." I'm hispanic, and I am not a fan of this guy by any means. I also can recognize the talent he has. He started his musical career from a young age (early teenage years). Hus fanbase is any kind of person. Both my parents very much enjoy him often. Man and woman. I am almost in my 30s, so you can take it fron there that my parents are no "College girls", nor in their 20s. Plus, they are also people with master degrees. Bottom line: your demographic-pointing comment towards the likeability of an artist, it's pretty sad. I could say the same of Americans. I am a classical musician, and it is pathetic how the majority of Americans don't have an idea about actual music. But oart of being a musician is to be tolerable and open-minded towards music. (Except something called reggeaton, that's just nasty noise😊).

He’s been singing since the age of 10 and won a Grammy Award at 15! I saw him in concert in New York City back in 2000 and he was SPECTACULAR!! When I drive I listen to his music because I love the way he sings, looks, everything! He did a duet with Frank Sinatra in the 90’s on Sinatra’s song “Come Fly With Me!” When you go to one of his concert’s you leave there knowing and feeling that you saw someone who got this beautiful gift from God and shared it with the world! He is something special and I’m proud that he is Latino and he has set the bar “high” for others. Best Latin singer EVER!!! I love him and will continue until I leave this world! I hope you enjoyed his singing as much as “we” his fans do! Thanks for choosing him to listen to. 🎤🎼🌞
