Most vocal coaches agree that she has the best mixed voice ever. Many also believe, and I do as well, that this woman is the best singer on the planet. Just everything she does and all of the many techniques that you and vocal coaches hear and tell us mere mortals. I have been around 60 years, and have heard all those that came before her, and to me, SoHyang is the best female vocalist on the planet. I am afraid that due to her not seeking fame, that she will not get the recognition she deserves. I do thank you for your super detailed critique of her.
I totally agree with you! I am older than you and I have never heard anyone with such overall ability! I love Whitney, and Eva Cassidy, and Lara Fabian, and Sade, and even the youngster Angelina Jordan, but this lady is on a different level... to me it is she and Lara who transfix the audience the most, though I know Whitney certainly did at times...
Epic!!! A masterclass in vocal technique, stamina and breath control. Arguably the most technically challenging and emotional song she has ever sang. I believe she does her own arrangements in addition to her fantastic singing. That allows her to meld her vocal and the instruments to evoke whatever atmosphere she wants. I also believe she's incorporating her faith into this presentation, with the "He" in the English part "He said" referring to God or Christ. This performance is like a sung testimony, and at least to me, seems intensely personal to her.
She is working with composers that does the arrangements. She might contribute with ideas but the credit does not go to her. This doesn't make her less of a performer or an artist.

Her input, with the cooperation of the conductor and her accompanying musicians, all very high-level professionals, is what results in these exceptional performances. If you took the time to find and watch full episodes of these shows, you will realize that arrangements of other singers/competitors on these shows are rather pedestrian. They don't vary significantly from the original compositions. With So-Hyang's it's a whole new dimension that opens up. And, it's not just a matter of making it "different." Her arrangements are so tasteful. They enhance, tremendously. They don't detract. Like her runs. They are tasteful, exquisite, enhancing.

Somehow this video got by me! I discovered Sohyang back in May of 2021 when I was fresh out of major surgery for Crohn's disease and wondering how my life would change. I was still dopey on painkillers and feeling sorry for myself watching various music videos and saw Sohyang's name for the first time in my recommendations. A few songs later, I was smiling with a few tears rolling down my face and I felt less alone in that brief dark time.
