Opera Singer's VOCAL ANALYSIS of SB19 | MANA (1ST-TIME REACTION) 

By far the most recommended SB19 performance for me to check out, and it did not disappoint!! So much talent in this group -- what should I analyze next?

When Stell was younger and he was with a choir, he was the only boy soprano. 😂😂😂

MANA song is a fan favourite. Both the song and dance choreography is epic. The song is about humility. MANA in the PPOPCON last year is awesome. SB19's songs are different genres. They are self-produced. They do everything from songwriting, choreography, song production, conceptualizing their MVs, etc

The singer at the back, Stell, in the middle does have a powerful chest voice. Please listen to him sing All By Myself and you’ll be blown away.

Peter, 24:13, That's Stell. he really shifts very very smoothly, so that's chest to mixed to headdy. He's really good in mixed voice. that's why you've said he has a healthy technique. In live vocals, there are also times Stell would not adjust his mic distance and just rely on his dynamics because they were trained without in ear, without microphone - this is what 4 years of training can do. Your doubt if that was edited or enhanced by sound engineers flatters.

Pablo (White highlighted hair) is the main master mind of their songs, he wrote and produce And Stell (who sang highest notes) is mostly the one who choreographed their choreos for performing

The singer in the middle is Stell Ajero. He really has an insanely high range. He can sing his parts really well even when they’re singing and dancing to Mana live. Pls watch his rendition of “All by Myself” si that you can analyze his vocal skills more. HE IS AMAZING!!!

I love your reactions Peter - you've got an amazing ear for music, and I always learn a lot from your analysis. It's especially impressive to see you apply music theory with physiology, music production and performance. The guy with the red hair, Ken, has the lowest vocal range of the group, and I feel like he adds a flavour to their music that a lot of Asian pop music doesn't necessarily have. He has his own solo projects under his real name Felip, and one that I hope you or other trained singers/vocal coaches could check out is his song Criminal. In it, he sings in several completely different registers - a deeper chest voice, and higher head voice and falsetto, and seamlessly moves between them.

When you pointed out the range Ken (red haired dude) was singing at the beginning of the song, like the deceiving part, it just made me realized why whenever I sing his song called Palayo, I can never go down as low as I thought it was and I always sing it subconciously on a higher note (or, again, I thought it was) but maybe I was singing it on the same note as him, I just didn't notice the grit in his voice or whatever it was. I always thought no one can do his voice the way he does and I couldn't explain why I felt like that but maybe it's because of that grit. Anyways, it was a great analysis, learned a lot! Also, I recommend doing WYAT or NYEBE next for your reaction!

Ken- the red hair has a wide range of vocal range.. he can do a lot of stuff last recently with his solo event, he growl like I never heard from any other artist!

Yes they're can choreograph their songs. The guy in the middle, a Main Vocal of the group is also the Main Choreographer

Yes, they can sing and dance...and they make their own music. From L - R )1) Red hair Ken 2) Justin 3) Stell (middle) (he has amazing high range 4) Pablo - with white highlight (the leader, composes their songs, 5) then Josh. But believe me all of them can do everything ...you have barely touch the SB19 surface.

When you were asking about Stell's (in the middle) range you should check out Stell and Justin singing Shallow. You can also check out Stell singing All By Myself. These boys do everything, sing, rap, dance and their live performances are better than the studio version. Check out their Round Festival Performance to really appreciate them. They sang 5 or 6 songs with a mix of Genres.

As you go along more SB19 performances and when you get to the members' solo releases, you will be surprised by that red-haired guy's (Ken's) vocal versatility. His voice is very well fit for both RnB and Rock type of music. The songs from his "Complex" EP are testaments of his vocal capabilities.

Hi, Peter! Yes, you’re 100% correct, the choreo for this song is 🔥🔥🔥 Ken (red hair) is their bass vocalist. I’m no expert about music production but perhaps the reason why his voice cuts off in that one part is because the sentence was meant to completely stop in Filipino. The pause is supposed to be there, even in the studio version. (Me thinks) Stell (guy in the middle), is their main vocalist, he can go as high as F5. You finally reacted to Mana. I've been waiting for this ever since your 1st reaction to SB19. I just subscribed. I appreciate reactors like you where viewers can learn a lot about either vocal or production technicalities. You described Josh's (rapper in right front) part exactly like what I call as melodic rapping. I am not a fan of aggressive rapping since for me it just sounds like speed talking. I prefer it when they rap like a mixture of singing and rapping thus why I call it melodic rapping. I won't tell you more about the boys since a lot of A'tin(our fandom name)already provided infos about them. I hope you react more to their songs because they are really talented. Thank you. So cool. As someone who also grew up in a musical household (mom has a Masters in vocal performance, PhD in voice science), I really enjoy hearing your take on these videos. That said, I have a bit of a different request for you. I would love to hear your thoughts on the artist "Ren" (I'd highly recommend "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" to start - it's actually two separate but related pieces put together to tell the whole story). Ren has a very different style to what you usually analyze - sort of a mix of rapping, singing, and amazing guitar playing - but what I'd love to hear your thoughts on are not just the vocal but the performance aspects of his videos. He is a king of storytelling. Another video of his, "Hi Ren," recently got a lot of attention as well. In that one there's very little movement or props involved (he literally just sits in a chair the whole time), but the storytelling is so.... intense. I feel like we hear a lot of analysis based on the part of your expertise that applies to vocal technique, but I'm also aware that your degree would have included a lot of theater/performance aspects as well. Because of that, I feel like you'd really appreciate Ren's music and the way he performs it, and it would be really cool/different to hear your thoughts on that. Just a suggestion, of course. Regardless, I look forward to future uploads!

Hi! Before I introduce the members. I want to point out that usually the performers in wishbus are given time to practice and then they sing live that means there is no cuts. I guess what happened to KEN (red hair) is that he mouthed the word. LEFT-RIGHT So the one with red hair who has a bass voice is Ken (Lead Rapper, Vocalist, and Main dancer) The one next to him is Justin (Youngest, Visual, Vocalist, and the Creative director of some of their MVs) The one in the middle is Stell (Main Vocalist, Choreographer of most of their songs, and a great dancer) The one with white highlights is Pablo (Leader, Lead Vocalist, Main Rapper and the Producer/Composer of their songs) and the last one is Josh (Lead Rapper and a great dancer). I hope this helped with you knowing this great guys. Also, I appreciate your reaction to them, the analysis that you give are helpful. Awesome breakdown. I thought I was floored by the performance before, but no lie, i was transfixed by your analysis.

The red hair is Ken, he has the deepest voice in this group, has a bit husky/raspy kind of tone, he usually gets rap part or low register singing part, but sometimes he gets more mid to high range too especially in their ballad songs, he's also great at falsetto and riff&runs, he usually take the bass base when the group makes vocal harmony, sometimes take the falsetto in the harmony too The white highlight hair who almost always has Long hair is Pablo, he's the one who wrote and compose all their songs. He's the main rapper and lead vocal who usually takes mid to high range, he has a very unique vocal character, my personal thought he's really the best when it comes to singing emotional ballad like 'ilaw' (one of their ballad, maybe you can check this one out too), his voice also somehow adding a bit slow-rock vibes to their emotional ballad song The one who sat in the center and takes all the highest notes is Stell, he's more of the main vocal in the group who usually takes the most difficult part and highest notes in singing parts and adlibs, he's also the main choreographer of their dance anyway Then the black hair guy who only rap here is Josh, he's more like the lead rapper, mostly only take rap parts in their songs, but also sing especially in their ballad, his singing is not his best, but he's improving through the years too, he's better now The guy beside the red hair is Justin, he's the youngest member (he's 25), he's more like a lead vocal or sometimes sub vocal in the group, he rarely rap, but he has a couple of rap parts in a few of their songs, he has a very clean tone

It didn't 'cut' as you thought, the sound is there although very low and it helps if you're familiar with the language, you'll be able to find the sound 😊.. The last syllable @f#2 is 'yo'
