Because when you are logging in the middle of nowhere and asphalt and gravel isn't available because there is no gravel or asphalt on the roads to enable delivery, that and massive costs and conservation laws prohibiting construction of roads in forested areas. The list goes on, personally they do remarkably well for what they have and the driving skills are impeccable, the timber is always delivered and the world keeps turning.
