I goddamn love this.
It's a premature end to Ace Combat's best foray in our world. Leaves us all wondering what could have been. But it did not go quietly into the night. Infinity may have stood in the shoulders of giants, ripping off our nostalgia with reference after reference, but here, it played second to no one.
This mission doesn't just blow the original Bunker Shot out of the water. It's one of the best missions in the entire series, period. The masses of enemies. The war cries over the radio. THE GODDAMN MUSIC. I was crying of joy the first time I played this. Blue Skies Remix still makes my heart flutter to this day. This was a love letter to me, and one I'll cherish forever - even if I can no longer play it.
I remember there was emergency maintenance immediately after the update (as usual), and most people had rushed to multiplayer so not many got to play the mission until the next day. I did. I will never forget that day, that feeling. It's the kind of moments I live for. I'm straight up fangasming here 6 years down the line.
Thank you, Project Aces. Infinity probably shouldn't have existed - but I'm so glad it did.
