It's a great time to pack a shoebox! Whether you are just starting out or collecting items year round! There is a lot on clearance and back to school supplies are out in full force! So take advantage of those deep discounts and bless a child! Today I am taking you to Walmart to build a box on a budget!

Amazing that you found such good deals on a single shopping trip. You did a great job on this box. Dinosaurs are my favorite boxes. Just FYI…. Walmart is offering a 10 pack of Lil People online for $9.00.

Thanks for the little people tip Marlene! Oh how I love Little People! I was determined to do this in one trip because that is how a lot of packers shop for their boxes. I was willing to compromise with what I found or didn't find if it didn't work out but I was a little lucky indeed with the stuffy! God must have known that this boy loved dinosaurs! Denise, I just got your response back on the make it blocks. I was afraid the make it block container would be to big for a box. That some body already made but I made alot in the box. So I probably will have alot left. So I could send the box also? I did put a small building tray in each baggie that you can buy extra to go with it to build on. Thanks for your help I am new at this. I need all the help I can get. I have alot of beads I am also making bead kit's. I bought extra stuffed animals after Christmas for filler also. I don't know where my boxes go.

Bead kits are awesome too! I make several each year for my boxes and for filler. Sounds like your make-it block kits are great! If you are referring to the packaging/box, no need to send that unless it has an example on it. Then you could cut the image out to include. Sorry if that’s not what you were referring to. You are doing great!!!

Can you send crayons? I thought they would melt in tropical countries?

Yes!!!! Crayons can be sent! I put them in every box. OCC says melting is not an issue but if you are worried, put them in a baggie.

Nice job, Denise! Good finds considering everything is generally higher in price these days compared to last year when you did this kind of shop for a shoebox at Walmart video. You did great finding all the Dino items. 😊

So true! I didn’t even think about the fact that the prices have gone up since last year when I did this! The only thing that I mentioned was the eraser going up from .20 to .40… and the toothbrushes. So pretty successful trip! And the box is darling! 🦕💙🦖

I usually sent Play-Doh to the little ones. I usually send 4 colors so they can get creative. I love the little dinosaur.

Great video, Denise. You are so good at these informational videos . Cute wrapping paper, and I love how you decorated the lid. There were a couple of surprises for me. I had no idea that the Dr Fresh Toothbrushes we’re no longer $1 😮 and the Spark coloring book used to be $.97 😩. $1.25 at DT doesn’t sound so bad anymore 😂. Those dino stuffies in the party section are adorable! As soon as I heard that they went on clearance I checked all my stores and none had them anymore. They must have sold out quickly when they were reduced, because I know I saw them in store at one point in time. But, that triceratops is super cute! Great job!! ❤

Kinda sad. I actually need to stop buying coloring books😂😅😂. I seem to buy every cute one I see! TFW friend! 😘

Wow great deal on the Dino stuffie. They were originally 4.97 I think. There was also a dragon in that sparkly blue. I waited and waited for them to go on clearance and them they did according to your video but I missedbit at my stores. I was so happy when you showed you Dino for 2.00. It gives me hope that they are still out in some stores. Lol. Great box. This video is a great help !!!!! Wtg!!!!

Thanks Tracy! I remember that dragon! I was lucky to find the dino for this box! God must have known this little boy needed a dino! I guess they are still out there! You know how Walmart stores are. Hi Denise, Thanks for taking us shopping. I am always interested in the price differences between the US and AU - here a can of Play Doh is a regularly ~ $2. 😱 I thus tend to do more surveillance than shopping for OCC - watching and waiting for the sales! P.S. You may want to check that your price tags / notes were all removed; personally I do not like to send price tags of any description.

Great video, as always! Reminds me of my childhood. My mum and I started packing OCC boxes when I was a kid. Back then, we could only afford to pack 1 or 2 boxes a year. We would go out the saturday morning before collection week, to walmart and the dollar store to find everything we needed to pack a box or two. It really makes me think of those days, and of how blessed we were to still be able to pack a box even when we were struggling financially. It really goes to show that OCC packing can be for anyone! Even just one box will forever change a childs life ❤

Oh I love your story Niomi. How beautiful that your mom planted this seed with you to help bless a child and change their life! Realistically, most individuals do shop like this. They go to the store with 1 or 2 boxes in mind with a budget to pack a box! And each and EVERY box is important and can make a difference! This was a great teaching video,, Denise. I did not realize Wal-Mart toothbrushes had increased in price. I bought tons at the beginning of the year. After hearing a recipient of a shoebox speak last year about lining up at the orphanage to use the same toothbrush, I felt led to pack 2 in each box. Packing a full package is great. Great job !

Thanks Judy! Well....so much has gone up in price....no surprise on the toothbrushes...right? Still a great deal. You were smart to buy a bunch this year. I am often led to send more than one also but my budget is dwindling in retirement. I mean after I filmed that video, I thought how easy was that to just include the whole package right? And not that expensive! I really have to consider this in the future if I could afford it. Thanks for watching and always encouraging me!

Great video, Denise! Funny, every time I go to Walmart I basically go to the same departments as you for OCC. I love how this shoebox turned out to be a dinosaur theme! It all worked out. Great find on the plush! The plush is my favorite. And the dinosaur model toys. Fun! The baseball top is another favorite because you know I love baseball. I'm glad you added a whole outfit! Great finds and most items cheaper than dollar tree. I think this type of video is very helpful for new packers. I’m in love with the stuffie! I have never seen one of those and sometimes stuffies are hard to find for boys. Thanks for sharing this inspiring video!
