June 12, 2012 - U.S. Marines with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment participate in Operation Jaws, clearing the town of Zamindawar in Kajaki, Afghanistan, a known insurgent stronghold. Following the combat scenes are informative interviews with 1st Lt. Benjamin Royal, platoon commander from Clinton Township, NJ, and Staff Sgt. John Wildman, platoon sergeant from Laurel, MS.

I served in H & S Company 2/5 Marines from Aug 96 to Aug 2000. Seeing these videos make me remember all the good time and the great Marines and Corp man i met while i stationed in Camp Pendleton CA. We have the smartest, most tactical, ruthless, and mentally tough war fighters in the world. So proud to have served but even more proud of these types of warfighters. I was in logistics so a lot of their supplies came from units like us. So proud to have been surrounded by these types of guys.

@@ronpelton2590 yes it can if it hits you but it is far more likely gonna be used to keep the enemy pinned in one position so that other groups of taliban in this case can manouver and try to encircle you or get you to move to some lace where they have planted IEDs (the Taliban are mostly experienced fighters,they know basic strategy and are smart and adaptable to any terrain in Afghanistan and they also know small unit tactics pretty well) so a PKM or any other MMG if used properly can fuck you up worse than you think

Been binge watching these&god forgive me but jeeez they've got some beautiful men ... Irish army looks nothing like this!! Drooling aside, what an amazing force...the level of training&skills are the best of any force I've seen in combat situations inc other divisions of the U.S. army, the brotherhood is heartwarming to see!! Greetings, my name is Pablo and i'm Spanish. I write this because my dream, believe it or not, is joining the US Marine Corps. I'm underage but i'll start college next year studying translation and interpreting. I've written to the US embassy in Madrid (which told me to talk with the USCIS), to the Corps' website, and finally to the USCIS asking for some info about how could i emigrate to this wonderful country , but i wasn't answered. One thing always comes to my mind when watching these combat footage from Afghanistan or Iraq.. The temperature is around 100 degrees and these guys have tons of clothes and gear on them. Now imagine fighting in that condition? I red somewhere that guys tend to loose up to 10 pounds on a longer mission. Brutal..

I served in the Marines back in 1979 to 1983. I worked in the defense industry my entire career and help to develop some of the radar surveillance systems they are using today. I was RADAR tech and still work in that specialty area today as a manufacturing engineer and manager. It sure makes me proud to see what these young Marines are doing. They conduct themselves with such honor and pride. Its true when they say once a Marine, always a Marine. I still feel a connection to these guys. The Marine Corps still lives in my heart and soul.

Just wanna point out how cool it is too finally see Abrams tanks rolllin around Helmand Province. I served my second tour in Sangin District just south of Kajaki, and returned in early February. I was with Alpha Co. 1/6. It would've been fucking awsome to have tank support then. Also happy to see what I am assuming are issued ECH's being worn by most of the Marines in this video. Provide far better protection against 7.62 than the out dated helmets that used to be issued.

From wikipedia: "A soldier is one who fights as part of an organized land-based armed force" The Marines are not a land-based armed force, i.e. army, they are Marines, which actually falls under the navy.
