This example shows how you can use Operations Orchestration to schedule and run a workflow that will send out an email with the energy prices for tomorrow. Additionally, the flow will schedule two workflows in the Operations Orchestration Central scheduler that will power-on a smart-plug at the hour of the day when the rate is the cheapest. Ideal for charging your electric car or switch on power-hungry devices. The second scheduled flow will power off the smart-plug after an hour to make sure that we will not be charged more than needed.
In addition to these changes, this demo also shows how to collect and report on actual costs for energy consumption of the previous day, again through email and webpage.
We will show the different steps in the workflow to retrieve the tariff information from the energy provider using their API, processing the data that comes back, updating my website where I have some charts.js running and send an email message that contains the prices for tomorrow. Furthermore, integrations with a smart-meter and Home Assistant are used to report on actual incurred cost and to power-on and power-off a smart plug.
The workflow will showcase some of the different integration techniques that Operations Orchestration provides, including HTTP GET, SSH and sending email messages.
