Opeth played a short set as part of Record Store Day 2013 at Newbury Comics in Leominster, Massachusetts on April 20, 2013 Thanks to Opeth, their label, Newbury Comics, and Record Store Day for putting this together!
Thanks! Actually my friend deserves all the credit. He shot the whole performance with a point-and-shoot Canon. I'm sure his arms were killing him after but it's definitely worth the effort.
glad to be of service! actually it was my friend who took the footage but he didn't want to bother uploading it and offered up the files. it was too good not to share! thanks again to Opeth for being awesome.
This is from Ghost Reveries and sounds like complete indian style Sitar kind of music. I can also see when he turns the tanpura (which Gives you scale line in the background and played on single string of sitar) on at the Beginning. Opeth is Great,if I need to Introduce opeth to somebody who knows lil bit about music this song would be one of the top 5 Unique Songs which you can hear from a death metal band. Btw Opeth is beyond any Genre boundary when it comes to experimentation.
I was just checking comments. I knew someone might be commenting this raaga resemblance in the leads. lydian flavours the deep Indian roots. Thank you.
5.24 Fredrik is thinking 'WTF is the guy on keyboard doing?' He seems to be a funny bloke but a very talented guitarist at the same time. Nice to hear the song in this version. Thanks for uploading.
This has personal and nostalgic feelings for me. Back in 2007/8 i was going through a confusing time, my parents were mad at me, had no job, no partner, but this song was strong for me, don't know how else to explain it, but this song helped me be strong
those guys don't need shit to make great music... they can perform in freaking mall and still sound genuine. Not much talent like this is to be found these days... much love from russia !
Yeah the sound is just amazing ... I downloaded them just in case Adam decides to remove them or opeth decides to request youtube to remove them (I dont see mikael doing this, but who knows...) . The material is just TOO GOOD to be lost... amazing quality... im just amazed
No mate, He said after Opeth released Morningrise everybody in Sweden and Norway was coping them (and bands with similar sound at the time). He doesn't hate that lovely record, he just got really tired of hearing ripping offs from Morningrise.
He doesn't hate it per se. He was just tired of everybody in the scene reproducing that sound (primarily the heavy use of dual guitar harmonies), and therefore My Arms Your Hearse came out like it did.
