Just wondering about the people who are critical about the announcement on tv. Because in my country (the Netherlands) Opeth has never been on national television. I applaud them that they show Opeth on national television.
They're idiots because they introduce this song as a "special mellow edition", which shows they know nothing about the band they're talking about. Opeth is also the only good band they've had, during the rest of the year they have terrible Eurovision-type music and lame indie bands.
It's not too much different in the Netherlands. You have shows like De Wereld Draait Door that often have artists over, and they're usually dutch artists that are relatively unknown to the mainstream. Like Textures a couple years back: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N1lGvteMmDA.html
does anyone else understand how hard it is to sound this good in that environment ? this is so close to the studio version... just amazing from a playing perspective
Tempo. It can change the whole song around. At first didn't understand why but then later realized it's being played on a live tv show and the time its ticking. It was forced to a certain time lapse. I've seen opeth live and only adrenaline changes their tempo. Here there is no adrenaline but the one that tells them that the next "shot" is next or commercials.
Completely mind blown. Her voice is of an angel. I love Lacuna Coil, Evanescence, and those alike, but Nathalie Lorichs I have never heard the likes. What a phenomenal voice. Only Opeth.
Mikael Åkerfeldt: from 0 to Satan in 0.5 seconds flat :D love that guy's voice, absolutely versatile and beautiful. If you don't know what I mean: look for Opeth: The Lotus Eater :D \m/
amazing song, definitely one of the best opening track in the history of metal ever. however, the way that they cropped this live makes no sense. I mean who wants to see every detail of mikael's black hole nostrils, oral cavities, eyeballs's veins and every inch of facial hair, not even his crazy fangirls in my opinion. Sorry for the explicitly of this comment.
+Michael McHale English subtitles are there because it's on Swedish national tv, another language isn't it?! I think it's great that they have the translation, respect
