This was the record that got me into Opeth and screaming in general. I know I don't do Mikael Akerfeldt's voice justice, but I love this song so much!

Every growl parts are absolutely perfect, but the clean ones can be improved. By the way, the best "ghost of perdition" vocal cover on youtube, in my honest opinion.

I really liked your Heir Apparent cover and i was curious if you would do more Opeth covers. I watched other covers but your voice came much closer to Mikael voice than others. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Jim! Really I don't have a whole lot of advice. I really just tried to emulate the vocalists of bands that I like! Im sure I didn't learn the correct way, and even now Im sure its probably not the correct way but I enjoy doing it!

Mikaels gutterals aren’t really a false chord technique. It’s more of a low fry. I recommend listening to his isolated vocals on RU-vid. You can really get an idea of how he’s holding back air, and pushing from his diaphragm.

Have you tried doing any Lamb of God vocals? I feel like your harsh vocals would be a much better fit for Randy Blythe's style; Mikael Akerfeldt has an insanely low growl while you seem to be a bit in the upper frequencies. Also, your growls are brilliantly ferocious but I think your clean singing could use a little more work :)

How long did it take you to get this good at harsh vox? I've been practicing doing Opeth vox cover's for a while and damn', some of the harsh vox part's are tough!

I’d say it took a year to feel a little confidence, but many more for more improvement! I’m still progressing with it, these things take time and there’s no need to rush. Enjoy the process and be blessed in the journey!

How can I make my false chord sound as "thick" as yours? I am still a beginner, have hurt my Vocal Chords after doing to much, but now I am more careful, drink water etc.

Hey, thanx for watching! In all honesty, I’m not really sure! I know the diaphragmatic breathing and good airflow is essential! I know it’s probably not proper but my vocals hurt when I was first learning as well! But you’ll get it, don’t give up and keep at it! 👍
