had this because of sleeping with my contacts. Started when my eye started feeling like I had something in it. I took the contact off and washed my eye but nothing, pain started getting worse. By few hours my eye was nearly shut. I went to few eye doctors and noone could tell me what I had until this chinese eye doctor from Walmart said I believe you have Karatitis. She referred me to a eye Specialist and when the doctor cane in, it took him 5 seconds to check and say you got Karatitis. It took me a entire year before I could wear contacts again. Everything caused pain like smoke or the sun. Thank God it was on the top of the cornea just left a small scar.
