Some people like this middling radio. I love Jocktober but I always had the attitude that this junk has its place. I do not respect when they use stupid prep burgers and hack garbage. The Big Mama crew got my respect with that garbage Kung Pao parody because they at least went out and did the work to put the thing together. I would rather just listen to 15 year old O and A episodes.
wow.. opie is that kid you can never tell him that he said something funny or actually laugh at him kuz he will do it over n over till its not funny, the amazing part is how FAST he wears something out or ruins a bit
Jesus. I tried checking out Prep Burger. There isn't ANYTHING on their page other than a login and a quick page with radio station testimonials on how great it is. No previews or even any indication what they do.
I just googled them six years after comment and they're still together. I think. I forget stuff quickly bit I googled like 30 minutes ago and I'm 80 percent
I thought they really beat them up on the yawning part. That's my favorite jocktober moment ever. Did they replay it later or something? I could have sworn they played it over and over and went off on them.
*I know Jimmy winced when Opie turned "Simple Man" off at that part. Holy shit Opie somehow manages to fuck everything up! He probably didn't like it that much but loooooved the "Black Betty" one so much. It wasn't bad but Simple Man was the better of the 2. FUCKING ZILCH.*
34:08 "id rather hear the old Betty's talk about the dumb river and how they say good morning and good night..." FOR THE LOVE OF GOD does anyone know the source of this reference? I have heard it referenced on O&A dozens of times. I have been trying to figure this out now for like two years lol. What the hell is the reference? It sounds like theyre talking about some babbling old women at an old age home. I dont know if its from a movie, comnercial, tv show, etc..
Yeah, it's pretty obvious from what they were playing that Connie & Fish were doomed to fail eventually. From the sounds of it, their claim to have been together for 13 years was bullshit - they have ZERO chemistry.
I’ve heard them play that Black Betty cover a bunch of times now and this whole time I thought it was Jimmy doing a bit. It sounds just like him! Them gushing over that cover made my skin crawl. Their music taste stinks
IT really is falling off pretty quickly. If he doesn't have guests on it isn't even worth watching. HAlf the shit he does are internet memes that everyone else talked about a week earlier. Shit...sounds like half the time he copied the breaks that Opie and Jimmy did already a few days earlier. They all really sound like they are jsut tired and going through the motions now. Ant's "new show" luster has worn off already, even for him it appears. If he has guests on and does the political/racial/social justice stuff it's good, but looking through his past couple weeks of shows it looks like he has only had a couple guests on. Watching RU-vid videos that you already saw a month ago is really not entertaining media. Not to mention that he came out right out of the gate doing sponsored reads, which is really just fucking pathetic for a subscription show. He's on for 2 hours and does 2 reads that take up about 10-15 minutes some days. Plus, he talks about having parties still too much, which are probably the things I hated most about him on O&A. Nobody gives a fuck about a party they weren't at.
***** I think he's trying to make as much money as he can before he loses all his subs. Smart move really because I'm sure subs are dropping like crazy and I'm sure he foresaw it with how other podcasts tend to be up and down. Every person I have talked to that subs, well most, have had the same feelings bout it as you and I do. Just isn't going to last, and isn't entertaining enough on a regular basis to keep subbing. I cancelled my subscription a couple weeks ago and don't even think about it. I agree I like it when there is something about a political correctness issue to hear him, but like you said, he only spends about 10 minutes on it. Even then he'll start talking about something else and not go into any in depth discussion. His guest are the only thing worth watching because he will spend time on a subject with them. The other thing that bugged me was his coverage on Ferguson when he had the extra show on at night for the indictment. Things were going on and whatnot, but he decided to just kill the show at 2 hours and that was it. Nothing really happened while he was on. It was just coming to a head when he went off the air. Shows me he doesn't care that much about his show, or more accurately I guess, his subscribers if he wasn't willing to stick with the reason he even came on that night for the good stuff.
Go listen to all the episodes where Opie was out, and it was them 2. Was fucking great. Idk how good it would be permanently but I also love Anthony + Nick Dipaolo. Also lets get Colin Quinn involved somehow.
