That’s why I love when people defend Opie saying “at least he did it!”. He learned the same basic skills as every other DJ. He is the luckiest man on earth for picking up Anthony. Had they never met Opies show would be featured on jocktober. Just look at everything he’s put out since the split, complete garbage.

IMO it's Opie's most annoying quirk. It's the one thing justifying and fueling his ego. Bragging about his "radio talent," while keeping it vague and never specifying what he actually does. On Greggshells saga, he admits O&A didn't work on bits off the clock since 1999. They had producers, staff, interns to make edits, find stories, etc. What did he actually do????

@@mightymoeishFound/picked the producers. Fought behind the scenes for bits the bosses wanted shut down. Ant himself said he left that stuff to Opie. Opie’s basic bitch humor was good for new listeners specifically who weren’t yet used to edgier radio. He knew how to gain listener loyalty with the constant radio wars. That crap works on the rubes. During their biggest periods of growth, they hit that stuff hard. Lots more. He wasn’t funny, but he had his role. Probably why Ant sucks on his own. Jim, too.

This comes from a Radio station in a city I use to live in. I just found out that days before jocktober that they were doing the fugitive bit and I was so elated when I saw they were going to be on the first jocktober.

No, each show is 3.2ish hours without ads (Mon-Fri), 4 if you include the After Show. They talk about the news, pop culture, anything else they want and make heinous jokes. It's wonderful.

I think Opie ruined this years Jocktober. Starting from this episode, he seemed disinterested in the whole thing...I think he rushed it on some days to get to the guests. I'm sure Sam still has so much content.
