Another weird thing I noticed (after watching this 4000 times) is when the co host shrieks "1980!!!?!" Scorch does not react at all, just keeps rambling on. Scorch is so eager to get to his next bad joke that he ignores someone literally screaming at him 2 feet away.
@Lil' Connor Peterson I would imagine Scorch views the world similar to what John Malikovich saw when he was transported into his own mind,Except they all have Scorch's head and they're saying "Know what I mean?"
the saddest part is Scorch is now acting in terrible movies and tv shows and has his own RU-vid channel showcasing his demo reels of his acting ability.... it really needs to be riffed on by Anthony and Jimmy
+anadryantontine Jesus christ, for months I've been freaked out by this jingle 'cause I thought it was talking about someone being 'underage'. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
The thing I find funniest about Weird News, that they never mention, is how the stories are rarely weird and usually just horrible. It's just a man reading out grim news stories with no punchlines and laughing over them as though their funny.
@@followingtheroe1952 I think that's what the guys find funny - Scorch's terrible delivery, the lack of jokes... - but there is even a step before that. I don't think the stories ever had a chance to be funny as they are just fundamentally bad content for radio. The stories aren't weird at all, they're usually just quite a bleak crimes. I don't think Dave Chappelle could make them funny hahaha.
LMAO the co-host here steals the show. He looks so happy to be here in front of the audience of 5 people. Like this is it, the golden opportunity to shine. It takes some effort to make Scorch look uncomfortable.
I love the look on the sidekick's face when Scorch gives the cardboard box line. He's baffled, like he can't believe that was the punch line. Scorch calls him out and he rushes to say "It was fine. Very funny Scorch." After saying this, you can see how uncomfortable he is by the way he's moving his hands.
Its a regional Boston thing... the old joke is that the eastern part of the state (Boston area) doesn't give a shit about anything west of Worcester (Central Massachusetts). So Western Massachusetts may just as well be someplace far away in the western wilderness like Colorado Springs.
I’ve noticed a pattern. Almost all the best O&A segments, Opie is trying to put an end to them as quick as possible. He truly didn’t understand what made the show funny. Nobody remembers most of the hackey bits, callers, or soundboard abuse, but the organic riffing is legendary. You know if it’s a good segment if Opie is like “alright we gotta make this quick, we gotta get to (XYZ)”
Yet for every 20 clips people obsessively watch all these years later on RU-vid, at least 13 or 14 of them were Opie’s idea, or something he brought to the show, or something brought to the show by the producers he hand selected. Opie is the one that brought mocking scorch to the show in the first place. Anthony and Jim did absolutely nothing behind the scenes, and it’s actually a rarity that one of their classic bits had nothing to do with Opie. But keep revising history because the guy who literally got caught grooming someone he thought was a 15 year old girl told you to hate the guy who started the program. Keep doing that. Look at Anthony’s show. Look at anything Jimmy has done after Opie and Anthony. All of it sucks. All of it. Anthony couldn’t be funny anymore if his life depended on it. Then they had the temerity to call him paranoid while they were personally operating Twitter accounts mocking him behind his back, and going on message boards and talking shit about him and leaking information about him anonymously until people figured out who they were. Calling him paranoid while they’re actually doing the things he thinks they are doing. I get that he was an asshole, very difficult to work with, I understand all that. But to diminish his importance to the show is a revision of history. One that some people will gladly suck up because the literal domestic-abusing ephebophile told them to.
I literally can't stop listening to these. Scorch has become my new Karl Pilkington and the guys ripping on him are like his Ricky and Steve. My favorite part of these is Ant's enthusiasm for Weird News and whenever he just starts mumble-singing the theme song. 2:59 Do we have to play the rest of this? Yes we do. It's Weird News, for the love of god.
Hahaha I love how it immediately starts off with Jimmy doing a shitty half assed Scorch impression saying "Weird Neeews!" I love Shitty impression Jimmy.
@@Luisaan145 His name is Chris Vito, and someone tracked him down on Twitter in like 2017 to ask him about Weird News and he claims he has no memory whatsoever of doing this
JB Bolton728 I don't know, Erock? They beat the shit out of him constantly and Scorch definitely has no respect for whoever is sitting next to him, so I guess Erock would fit the bill.
I literally listened to an O and A vid just before watching this and opie did exactly what scorch did. He said “well I could’ve went there” when one of the interns made a kind of funny comment. Opie is really scorch.
"incase you need an extra thumb for the kid." if opie would have gotten up, left the studio and walked into traffic, he would have died on his best zinger.
17:05 is the only real funny part of this when scorch is saying "forcing his maid to touch his crotch" all fun like and the other guy just goes oh thats sexual harrasement scorch nothing funny about that
