The Trilolo guy that knew Jimmy wasn't bad, the venue was just joyless. Those same jokes about beating your kids rhythmically would've killed in a club full of tipsy Italians.
His deliverance was crap, he just doesn't have it. But you're correct, 99% of stand up is dreadful and it requires you to be drunk and a crowd of people to infect you with laughter.
Yes, that was Anthony Ciulla; he has also done choreography for So You Think You Can Dance and was even nominated for a Tony Award for his choreography work on Broadway. There was also a comedian/impressionist named C.P. Lacey who went on to some success as well; you can check out his Facebook page, The CP Lacey Show. He's quite funny and very entertaining to watch!
