F**king Larry King, man...to Nikki: "Do you contribute, by the way? Are you a prop?" Larry King was on fire. Larry demands Jim's name be part of the show title. Funny stuff. King really dug into the whole Ant firing thing and O and A history. Larry King made some good observations about modern media, about how everything is "on the air", whether it is on Twitter, Facebook, whatever. King says Opie is "copping out" by not heading out to Long Island to do Ant's show. Great interview.
So let me get this straight... Opie apparently fought for Anthony to stay on the show and not be fired, yet when asked about it he says they needed to separate and it was for the best that they didn't do the show together anymore, so if that's what he wanted why would he fight for Ant to stay? He wouldn't. Horseshit.
+fearfatch If you listened you would have heard he had no capability at the tme to keep him on the show. It was either stay without Anthony or leave entirely and he didn't want to leave. Both options would not have brought Anthony back. So the BEST OPTION was for them to go their separate ways since option two was the whole show be shit canned instead of just Anthony. See how useful context is? The faulty premise is that there was some way to get Anthony hired back; there wasn't.

And Anthony is the liar if anyone is, the story about him getting attacked by a fat black woman is just crazy to me how anyone would actually believe that he is innocent in that or that it ever happened. Larry isn't a legend for nothing. He was a masterful interviewer, and was always able to pry the truth, ugly or no, from his guests by simply letting them talk and remembering what they said. Direct questions, but no really confrontational questions. Just letting them talk and finding out what they know. Like an FBI interrogation. Fucking brilliant.

how did you know he has been doing it since he was 18? I've never heard him say that, I do think he is great though, very funny, also cracking up the whole room, and it's a good thing he constantly discourages jimmy from making jokes, I find his humor crass and distasteful....I just got violently I'll typing that.

Practically every time Opie opens his mouth he says something that points straight to a really big issue with his personality. But just focussing in on his mentality towards the politics of his station, he really reminds me of David Brent. A complete company man with Bruce Springsteen delusions. Love it when Larry calls Opie out. Patrice was the master and always hinted at it with Opie but he always chalked it off as racist Patrice. When Larry said it, it was a revelation.
it was great when patrice was asking the guys what celebrity they would kill their girl to have sex with, and opie said "I don't have an answer for you, I'm very very happy" and patrice just said "ugh, nice talking with you" he was soo disgusted.
Look at Opie trying to be that guy asking those "Im in charge here" questions. Trying to be edgy. Larry saw right through that shit and from the start you can tell he wasnt falling for opes cocky bullshit. Ugh this show, sadly, is so muted now. Its just like every other interview show. Sam Vessels To be fair, Larry's been doing interviews for 60 years; he's a master at it, even if he could be corny as hell sometimes, and he wasn't known for throwing softballs at the interviewee and saving hardballs for easy targets like most shitty talk shows, and there's really not much a person could ask him, since he's kind of just been coasting for the past 20 years. Considering there have been huge changes with Opie in the last year and not many people had the balls to grill him about them, it was inevitable.
Wow larry king owned this interview. He literally just got the show away from.opie. Larry king equals boss. No wonder marlon Brando near the end of his career only did Larry's show.
this is just depressing. The fact that they never talked off air for years is awful, I think most of the listeners feel betrayed by that fact, the entire point of the show is for friends to have a fuckin laugh, damn

Luis Andino Jim works with opie and his contract with the station is for the show he does with opie. We all want to hear jim side with ant, but he can't just come out and say that.
I'm not seeing how opie was owned. He went with it and answered questions. Opie keeps saying "we had a long relationship" but it's the truth. Familiarity breeds contempt. They had a complex relationship like any long relationship. I do agree that opie is the kind of guy who needs comedians with him for the show to be the best but I don't agree with this trend of total opie hate
The hate from this episode was built over a 20yr career. Just like the problems between he and ant. A lot of fans already thought opie was such a tool at this point, they saw the show thru that filter.
