This knife reminds me of an electrician's knife.

If you"re looking to review an often overlooked Opinel the #8 'Garden' knife is maybe worth looking at - stainless steel spearpoint blade with an ergonomic, tapered handle, without the usual fishtail. A handy, well-priced knife IMHO and most RU-vidrs pass it by and only check out a Classic #7 or #8 'carbone'

Well that one is a little bit of of an odd duck.

I'm considering getting it to replace my Swiss army knife, as I find the main things I use are he large blade, and the screw drivers.

Oh! That is maybe the Opinel for me. I'm a janitor and do carry a Leatherman Rebar on my belt, but that would be an interesting supplemental carry indeed.

I own the SAK Pioneer Alox which is slim but has handy tools but, for me, one useless blade/tool combo which is the can ooener and smaller flat head screwdriver meant to be used on phillips screw. I wish the company would have, instead, put a phillips screwdriver instead. Which brings me to this Opinel. I think the blade is the right size and I like the shape of it. The wire strippers are useful, though I would have preferred having a bottle opener in that space. Love Opinel time proven design, the only draw back being the wood handles expand and . contract with mousture which can be annoying. With this model, however, the problem is solved. A must- have for Opinel fans.

Reminds me of a now discontinued Leatherman Crater I got as a gift that has a bit driver and storage for bits in the handle. This Opinel could be a good first knife or multitool for a teenager. Not the best product in its class but good quality and value.

Do a review on the Opinel Outdoor, that knife makes much more sense.

Every opinel I've ever gotten has been insanely super dull lol... And this is actually kind of cool. Thinking of getting one but probably not because I doubt id carry it all that much.

They should make a version with a traditional Opinel clip point blade. If there were no weird and hard to sharpen cutters I would consider swapping that hypothetical knife out with my skeletool cx and pocket knife. I do love how thin opinels are, but I don't like the crazy "sheeps drop foot point" blade..

Using an electricians knife , trying to cut rope with wire cutter and wire stripper. I wonder why it didn’t perform well 😆

For i see in other users, the classic carbon steel opinel come a lot sharper than that. Regards!.

This would be a great knife for the guy who owns Curious George. Or a good knife to give to a small child who likes to tighten up screws and cut things.

I wished this blade shape was just completely flat on the sharp side... just a sheepsfoot. An electrician I would imagine would like this knife. You usually have the right tool... but sometimes you whip out your knife instead of running around looking for more tools.

It makes me think it is some sort of an electrician's knife. With two wire strippers and two drivers for receptacles, distribution boxes etc

Hmm. Interesting! One thought for filming top- down; the camera was really struggling for focus during the opening. Once you started working on the wood surface, the small movements were much more in focus and easier to see. Maybe keep any close ups for the end as to minimize the focal length adjustments the camera has to make... even in a 7 minute review.

Kind of reminds of something a committee came up with that ends up being not much of anything. I think the company missed on this one.

mmmm, I dunno. I have a No7, a Rebar, and a Tactica pocket tool (both the original and the improved version) with a set of bits. I love Opinel, but I don't thimk I need this.

are you tearing into a package with your hands? how many knives do you own? lol and it's hard to complain about carrying around an opinel + basic driver... because it's hard to complain about carrying around an opinel.

Is that opinel a flat grind? All the Opinels I've got are actually convexed on the primary grind. That one is weird. I wish they would have only put one serration on, it then acts as a sharpening notch (I've got a camillus that does that and crkt has a tanto folder that has a set up like that).

It potentially has a couple of advantages over a traditional Opinel. The blade is sturdier and won't stick in the placcy handle and need tapping out when it gets damp (common with the wooden handles). That's all good but the gimmicky stuff, especially the blade notches, are irritating enough to keep it out of my pocket. Opinel went all French, over-innovated and missed an open goal with this one IMHO.

Oh, i like that, but i love qurky stuff lol. Bet it'd sharpen just fine :-)

An opinel with extra features..... What's not to like?

Other than a certain generation even older & far stuffier than mine who smoked pipes & carried Opinels in their tweed sports coats, I have never seen these knives as anything of substance or real practical use. Sure, they're good for reaming out a pipe in preparation of a fresh bowl & of course they're the ubiquitous picnic basket knife to go along with that crusty baguette, charcuterie & stinky french cheese. They could however use a cork screw to assist in washing it all down with one of countless delicious adult beverages the French are so well known for. I'll stick to my tried & true trusty Swiss Army Knives. Besides, the plastic/synthetic handle on this version takes away a lot of the charm of the original wood handled Opinels. I'm all for companies trying new products & updated approaches to tired products (as you stated in your video, this should be applauded) but this one is a swing & a miss & lacking in many ways.

I cant see me buying an opinel at all... even a cheap ass 22 Euro victorinox is more appealing to me.
