I love Christipher Nolan but what is so exciting about a "test" in the middle of nowhere? I don't see this as an exciting subject matter or climax, you basically want to get something to go BOOM so you can threaten to kill your enemy? He will make it exciting if anyone can but obviously a plot like Inception, Batman and Interstellar has more intrigue and potential. And nukes are fake.
Cillian is my favorite all-time actor. The power he brings to every scene is palpable…even as an antagonist he’s mesmerizing and I hold my breath as he chews up the scene. After this movie, he’ll be everyone’s favorite.
I'll be shocked if he doesn't win the Oscar for best actor, just watching this trailer alone. Everyone knows he's been an excellent actor for many years, and here he is in the performance of a lifetime.
Agreed. And have you seen him as Thomas Shelby? His ability to speak and convey a message without saying a word - every nuance and the way he moves is brilliant.
I can’t get this movie out of my head and I can’t get enough of it. I’ve seen it twice and I’m about to see it two more times in the cinema (every time with different people) and I keep watching this video over and over again…it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my life…it’s absolutely phenomenal in every way ✨✨✨✨✨
I read the book about 12 years ago. It is still sitting in my bookcase with about a hundred other great books. Yet when I look at the bookcase it is always one of my favorites. Oppenheimer was a stunning man and intellect. His story is one of greatness and tragedy. This movie appears to honour that. Personally, I also am delighted that Cillian Murphy gets the role of his life. He is a brilliant and thoughtful actor - ideal for this. Can't wait to see the movie in the cinema.
@@sohaibimran9 It would be 200 books but I went the Kindle route. Prior to Covid, I used to travel a heck of a lot. Reading books was essential to fill in the time on the plane. Now my mother used to have 8 books running at anything. I am just an amateur.
Easily one of the top 5 movies I've ever seen. It is a beautiful and terrifying movie that does Oppenheimer's life justice. This will be Nolan's masterpiece.
If the Trailer can extract such strong emotions & can keep one spellbound, imagine what the Movie has in store...I think this movie will go down as Nolan's masterpiece ever to have graced the screen, This movie I guess aims to delve into the psyche & the circumstances that made Oppenheimer & his ultimate realization to what he created when he quoted the famous verse from the "Bhagavad Gita". Brilliant acting, stupendous background score, raw !
Mind Begs the Question: Hitler demonized Religious Minority As part of Sinister Plan to Rule Guaranteed Evil Govts don't exist Plan False Flag attacks,to test Nukes on Human Subjects?
This first look really hit me hard. This movie looks like it could be a contender for one of Nolan's best and that's saying something! Hans Zimmer's score is incredible yet again!
Fun fact: Not many people do recognize that Cillian Murphy is playing a scientist that has something to do with A-Bomb for a second time... The other movie with such theme is a sci-fi movie Sunshine from 2007. Worth checking that one too!
I think Memento Is his Magnum opus, from there everything is complex concepts putting on screen, some goods, some impressive, some too much (ridiculous) and some cheesy sentimentalist. Me, not being enough of a cinephile, I put him as an innovative, not as a transcendental individual. I consider Villeneuve and Fincher (although I haven't seeing yet Mank) films more sutil, deep and transcendental without being too sentimental, over dramatic, or "smart. I'm not an expert, just my narrowly and humble opinion.
@@danielgs_05 Guess I will find out next friday, got early tickets at my local IMAX theater. I have a feeling though that this might be his Magnus Opus as Seven samurai was for Kurosawa (in my opinion).
One thing I have heard about Cillian Murphy, is that he is the most “A-listed B-listed actor.” Everyone knows his face, they may not have seen him in anything. Regardless, judging from this!(The first thing I have seen him in), he seems REALLY GOOD! How has he NOT been in more things?!
What a time indeed. Just wait. Wait until Nolan's Bond film is revealed. Which it is destined to be. And then in the further future, a Nolan horror film; along the lines of Silence of the Lambs or The Shining.
You know a Christopher Nolan film in the same way that you would know a Hitchcock, a Picasso or a Monet -- an artist, with a unique style like no other, developed over time. Mr. Nolan uses the tools of his art to their fullest capability. The cinematography makes me gasp. His filmography is a long list of masterpieces, and I for one am glad to be able to follow his work. I also admire Cillian Murphy -- it's about time he had the lead! He is intense in his work, and in the snippets I have seen of Oppenheimer, he is spot on. I look forward to seeing the film this weekend!
This movie is destined to be one of those that will shape the future and the present of movie making, at first glance it looks like a record breaker, a milestone. Nolan is already one of the greatestt, but this could elevate him to be the greatest movie maker of all time
No one but Nolan could make this movie what it will become. Stunning visuals, goosebump inducing score, incredible talent and acting. The story itself will hopefully stand the test of time and as another remind of his genius in directing movies.
I understand reading comprehension can be tough so I'll try to type this slowly. "No one but Nolan could make this movie what it will become." Meaning it hasn't happened yet. "Become." Not became. Light Bulbs going off yet?
Never before a film of 99% talking got me so focused, excited and nervous at the same time. Brilliant acting, jaw dropping cinematography and music that connects you with what ever feeling the director wants you to be... A true work of art in my opinion..... deserves many oscars!!!! 9.5/10
Oppenheimer is a fascinating symphony of light and shadow, meticulously crafted to evoke introspection and unwavering emotion. It is not an easy movie.
Yeah when they made the bomb they were debating if they should use on a populated city or uninhabited area as a demonstration but Oppenheimer argued that the newly created atomic bombs should be used on city and in a way that was the most impactful and devastating because he believed if they did maximum damage it would deter these weapons from ever being used again. Oppenheimer was even in charge of mathematically calculating the height of detonation to cause the most damage to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
There are so few good movie lovers' movies coming out these days. Christopher Nolan has never once disappointed me and everything he touches seems to turn to gold. I've no doubt this film will be another milestone in cinema and hopefully help revive the art of storytelling in cinema
There are so few real movies that I am interested in seeing these days, but I have been interested in this movie since it’s production was announced. Now I’m seeing the pre-release buzz and it’s everything I expected. There are too few movies that will get people back into theaters and along with Maverick and now MI: Dead Reckoning I will definitely see this movie. The fact that that these movies create real visuals as opposed to CGI is what gets me into the theater.
Our love for their performance, Our admiration from them as actors, And our respect for standing in solidarity with writers. It can’t be an easy thing to walk out of a premier of a movie they must all be so proud of. Hats off to that cast👌🏻
Is it just me or is the audio really unbalanced? The music is either way way too loud to not be able to hear the actors and the constant cuts along with the crescendo of the audio/music make it really hard to hear the words that are being said.
@@ryanod9845 Tenet soundtrack had some aspects that were meh, like the rap part and just some other aspect. It was good though overall pretty good. Oppenheimer seems to be a few steps up though. Excited for it sounds amazing so far.
I have degrees in physics, mathematics, and electrical engineering, so I knew a lot about Oppenheimer. But this movie is going to be great and bring his story and physics into mainstream understanding.
I just got out of the hospital, I'm going to see this in theaters even tho I'm in a wheelchair. That's how committed I am to seeing this movie. After seeing this I'm super siked!
Just freaking Amazing!!!! And they compared Barbie with THIS!!!!! From the early reactions we can tell this will be a masterpiece for the ages!!! Nolan is our generations Kubrick and Spielberg combined!!! Itll be a blast....Cant wait!!
The acting is in sync with the background score. It's so tense that it's making my heart heavy. Film making is truly an art Man. Looks like we have a winner here. Good luck to the team.
A feature documentary exploring how one man's brilliance, hubris and relentless drive changed the nature of war forever, led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and unleashed mass hysteria, and how, subsequently, the same man's attempts to co.
It's a lot to put on Oppenheimer alone. I would imagine someone would have figured out how to make the bomb even if Oppenheimer didn't exist, but it will always be his burden to forever bear.
Fact: Acadamy needs Mr. Nolan more than he needs Acadamy. At the end of the day, Interstellar, Inception, Darknight, The Prestige and Dunkirk last forever in our hearts. So fk Acadamy
"Would the Japanese surrender if they knew what was coming?" I LOVE that we're finally getting to approach one of the hardest questions that has rarely, if ever, been approached fully from a cinematic perspective in modern film history. This is going to be one hell of a ride.
"rarely approach"? Google Scholar search will produce a million papers on the subject, and it has already been the subject in other movies, including one with Paul Newman. Paid shill?
This was approached hundreds of times. Have you been under a rock for the last 50 years? A land invasion by sea would have been the alternative. My guess is you're unfamiliar with the frog/shock dilemma that was used in this instance. A land invasion by sea would mean a long fought battle lasting months if not longer. Millions to tens of millions would be dead, both Imperial Japanese and Allied lives. Due to the slow rate of death and relative unseen calamity, it would have little effect on those who are making the decisions and to the Emperor. It's likened to a frog slowly boiling whereas the Bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki would be the shock trauma. While the bombs would mean 1/100th to 1/500th of the amount of deaths, it would also send a clear sign to the Emperor and leadership. But they must know we have more than one made (even though we only had two). Nagasaki was three fold... 1) They had not surrendered yet and the dropping on Nagasaki was then to further push them to surrender 2) To make them realize we likely have many nuclear munitions 3) To send a warning to the Soviets. This with the clear understanding of the sheer level of atrocities that Imperial Japan committed in the two decades prior to the end of WW2 that were well beyond the losses in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And those deaths in the two towns were far more sudden and for the vast majority, more humane. In the end, it helps to have an understanding of nuance and a greater scope. But yes, this has been talked about at length and the general consensus was already made. It's just the young who are unbelieveably naive and ignorant who seem to think, "let's have a counter viewpoint so we can feel original". Even if they're woefully wrong or misinformed.
Probably the most important motion picture ever made, people need to know that the danger is more prevalent now than in anytime in the history of it discovery. It's takin for granted that we have control. Don't fool yourself cause we will never see it coming.
To all those interested....there is an early 1980s tv-series on Oppenheimer with Sam Waterston as lead....i think its available on youtube.....it was brilliantly directed....my bet is that most actors in this movie would have been told to watch that series as homework!.....that series rocked...and seeing that many years ago....i hope this movie at max....should successfully replicate the sheer drama surrounding Oppenheimer...as it did in the 1980s tv-series
