here in turkey still i can't find a imax ticket for oppenheimer. full seats sold since the start. this movie easily can go full sold another month for imax theaters.
Great show as always my guys, thank you to Kevin for opening up and being vulnerable with us. I’ve battled depression, ADD and ADHD my whole life and more people need to realize it’s ok to talk about it. Much love 🙌
it's releasing in china, where Barbie and Super Mario bros flopped on August 30. If they maintain a steady hold globally for the next month, and are a monster hit in China, 800 million to a billion is DEFINITELY possible considering it's already crossed 600 million on Thursday.
@@nikitamohan3390 It might do well in China considering that it shows the US government in a bad light. Barbie unfortunately flopped in parts of East Asia (Korea, China, etc) due to an anti-woke backlash.
New favorite Dracula film is The Last Voyage of The Demeter. I went to the theaters to see because of Jake’s praise and interview, and he wasn’t lying, like a 1800’s Alien movie on a ship. Happy I saw it this weekend!
As much as I like Kevin, he does talk the most out of everyone, and for everyone to get their fair airtime, I think sometimes he does need cutting off I’m afraid. As he sometimes goes on tangents and repeats himself. A good presenter cuts in, and think Gabe did a good job of that to keep the podcast moving.
@@Arjv23000 When he gets cut off for someone else to give their $.02, it just doesn’t work for me in a zoom format. It’s no big deal I just wanted to give some feedback because I enjoy these guys and want the channel to continue to grow.
I really think Dune 2 is gonna come out this year on its planned date, November 3. The chances that the strike takes that long is really small. Things I'm reading by insiders like Matt Belloni is the general expectation is that after the summer is over, they're gonna make it work. It might drag on a bit of course, but I don't see that going for two months. And even if that won't happen, they're in the best position to earn money because of its recognizable director Denis Villeneuve who CAN do promotion. Plus, keeping it on the shelf till next year is also expensive. Its release date is pretty good. There's no competition before it, and the week after The Marvels will release, and again a week later Hunger Games. Marvel is on a pretty bad roll and I think people just a bit fed up with it. Hunger Games is a prequel and has no JLaw or other familiar faces to depend on. If the reviews for these aren't absolutely stellar, I can see Dune crushing them and going for 800M+. Maybe 1B.
Hey, guys. Just wanted to say love your show and the rapport between all the guys. I have a question for Kevin. You probably might have been asked this before. Why not upload your videos in a different RU-vid channel which can be a Sister channel to the Fox 5 DC channel?
Gotta go with the 1931 Spanish version of Dracula as my favorite. Always loved how because they shot overnight alongside the Browning film, and since they had access to his dailies, they would try to one-up Browning's film wherever they could. Always love watching it and the Lugosi film back to back as a nice compare/contrast viewing. Plus Carlos Villarías and Pablo Alvarez as Dracula and Renfield absolutely kill it in their roles, bringing an almost manic insanity to the look/mannerisms of each character.
Kevin - thank you for always being open and vulnerable about what you’re thinking/feeling. The people who get it, get it, and we appreciate you. - Fellow nerd with ADHD 🫡
Hotel Transylvania 1 and 2 are genuinely some of my favorite movies. The 1st has more heart, but the second has me laughing the entire time. Besides those, Last Voyage of The Demeter is up there, an absolute blast
I'd argue the Nolan name comfortably gave him 300-400 million, and the rest is thanks to Barbenheimer hype. I'm not interested in seeing Barbie but man I love seeing a trend like this support both films in such a magnitude. Barbie's success is a great thing whether you care about the movie or not. It keeps the future of movie theatres looking healthy. Oppenheimer all the same.
@@LoganScottY Umm except that wasn't WHAT YOU SAID! Is your comprehension skills truly that bad? You said everything it earned after crossing 300 to 400 million is thanks to the "Barbenheimer hype" as if the film couldn't stand on it's own merit and the FAR superior filmmaking, score, cinematography and other technical aspects had NOTHING to do with it's success??? The Barbenheimer memes ONLY made a difference and helped Oppenheimer during the opening weekend! Also Oppenheimer is doing FAR better than Barbie in a bunch of countries worldwide like India and will probably excel in China too when it releases there on August 30.
@@nikitamohan3390 "Gave him 300-400 million" Not up to. Not by a certain time, not by the end of (x) (y) or (z) I simply stated he probably earned 300-400 million from his name. People can go to his movie for his name alone at any point, they don't just suddenly stop at some magical point because I'm talking about a random amount "He" probably got based off his name. The rest of that is allowed to be taken in past, present or future tense. Holy f*ck it was never supposed to be this deep and I don't know why you wrote an essay in such a way implying I was condescendingly talking down to you lmao.
I don't think we have any great Dracula movies, I love Andre Ovredal so I hope Last Voyage is going to be my favorite when I see it. I have a very love / hate relationship with Dracula Untold as I was under the impression it was going with a trope I adore - creating something as a protector of mankind only for it to turn into a predator of mankind - and I held on to that delusion up until it turned into Gladiator instead. I love the scene at the end where he controls the weather as I think vampires should be forces of nature (including things like turning into a wolf or controlling wolves, laughing at you while he reattaches his head), except he's doing all the wrong things for a vampire like saving people instead of killing them. I like Bram Stoker's Dracula, Renfield, Hotel Transylvania, I even enjoyed Van Helsing, but I wouldn't call any of them favorites. Actually, does Suck count? My take on Alice Copper in that movie is that he's Dracula and that's a movie I love, so Suck is my favorite so far.
*"maybe it crosses spiderman"* my g, its about to touch $700mil by next week LMAOOOOOO since this recording its currently at $649mil or something insane! $1bil coming baby!!!!!!
If you watch Dan Murrell do "charts with Dan" his most recent one has a rough estimate that this past weekend it's made it in the green. Even if it's off, I'm sure by the end of its run it will be well into profitability.
@@rajv9732 dune part 1 made 400 million at the box office and that was released on HBO max the same day. Part 2 will have an exclusive theatrical run and there’s a lot more hype for part 2 now. It will make a lot of money. Especially if it’s really good like part 1
Because Barbie ALREADY crossed a billion when they recorded this episode on Tuesday. So why the hell would they ask "will Barbie cross a billion" after it already did? Are you 5 years old???
'Barbie' Interview | Greta Gerwig Talks Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling & More (Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer) - 1:11.41 «It did not bother me that we do not see the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki… il did not need to see a quarter of a million of people (and tens of thousands of women and children) dying to understand the impact… » Your point of view on this film vary among the 4 commentators. Note that these views are the aesthetic and political opinions of US citizens. I add another point of view : 1. it was mandatory to show these scenes instead of the ridiculous trial that lasts an hour. 2. Oppenheimer was a war criminal and participated in one of the most monstrous war crime of History - he developed the first weapon of mass destruction that one of your presidents, another war criminal, has talked about so much - which served as a pretext for another war crime against Iraq.
