Neither approach is wrong. It’s just different perspectives. From Samsung’s side, a Fold should be easily usable with 1 hand (hence the long display) and it should make users use the inner, folding display more than the outside cause well.. it is essentially why you’d buy a device like that in the first place, not to use the small display but the big display and to be able to carry it anywhere.
I'm hoping Samsung follow a similar path they did with the Note series in 2019, rather than just thinking a Note phone should be big & with all the bells & whistles, they opted for the Note 10 & Note 10 +, so even if you didn't want the giant phone you could still enjoy using a phone with s-pen. Now i'm hoping the Fold series will follow suit, with a Fold + option (similar to what they've done previously), with a regular size option similar in form factor to the Find N. I'd buy the smaller Fold in a heartbeat if they were to release one.
@@Lee.S321 I would too. Great points. They just took a full sized phone, or near as damn it, and made it even bigger. A 5.8 - 6 inch phone with a larger screen makes more sense.
@@funkam0nkey I'm using an S22 (regular model) currently, & it has a 6.0" screen I think, so if they made a Fold with a similar outer display to the S22, but it opens into a mini-tablet, i'd just open my wallet & shout at them to take my money tbh. Samsung UI twinned with a Find N2 ish form factor would be perfect. With s-pen support too, & even better with it housed internally, oh my.
I've got a Oppo X5 Find Pro and wondered if this N2 is worth getting as I can order from China on eBay. Is the camera the same as the Oppo X5 Find Pro?!
May I kindly ask how do we set the Home Screen for folded and unfolded differently or separately? Cos whenever I unfold it all my apps will be cramp to the left
do you need to root the phone to get the play store and google apps on it? and is there any way to wireless charge it? also, how's the video recording?
This video from country that doesn't even have it's own foldable display. From a country that still uses marketing lingo like pro...ultra max pro...and shit like that for tech from 10 years ago.
All of these foldable tablets are built with compromises. All good looking at these unboxings, but my experience with Chinese brands is bad. I have a zfold4 and despite its misgivings, I trust Samsung to a)update software as promised, b)give me access to service support c)offer me credible insurance and d) a growing eco system backed by people like Microsoft. Samsung don't do all these things perfectly, but they do them better than any Chinese brand IMO. You can't even return an imported phone back to China because it contains a battery! You invest in these Chinese brands at your peril for the sake of having "better designed hinge".
The square aspect ⬛️ in 4/4 of this Oppo once unfolded means that it has no interest in my opinion. No waterproofing, no wireless charging, $1100 in China so surely around $1400 - $1500 outside China... Also, how can we achieve this level of engineering without thinking for a moment about the positioning of the speakers which is a nonsense, not to mention that of the power button / fingerprint and the volume button positioned too high and not ergonomic at all (regarding the positioning of the buttons, it is valid for the Samsung Flip 4) 🤦🏽♂️ The Honor Magic Vs (the version with the pencil) is currently the only one that can really compete with Samsung's Fold 4, this Honor is currently perhaps the only Fold to have almost ideal external and internal screen proportions . Ps: I remain convinced that all these Folds should have a screen like the Oppo Find N Flip's exterior screen next to the rear photo sensors.
For me, the OPPO Find N2 nailed the most critical aspect, the front display. My take, FWIW, is that foldable is to reduce the size and opens up for larger display. So the compact outer display and a bigger inner screen are precisely what I want. I do not need the Fold's big front display; it adds cost, bulk, a poor aspect ratio and weight. The OPPO nails what people want. The Fold is more of a niche hybrid tablet, and it is never mainstream. As for the flip phones, I believe the OPPO take is again better, due to the bigger front display, important on flip phones.
@@andyH_England No, the Oppo Find N's exterior screen is too wide, and its internal screen is too square. People really tend to forget that a folded Fold is almost like having 2 iPhone 8 Plus stacked. With its overly large exterior screen, the Oppo Find N is a real pain to handle with one hand, and with its square internal screen, it is not suitable for almost any modern application, and even for watching videos it does not bring anything more than a 14 Pro Max or S22 Ultra. The external screen of the Fold 4 is it's true still not wide enough, on the other hand that of the Honor Magic Vs in 21/9 like that of Sony is perfect.
@@rolins3279, I am just saying what I think. The OPPO was sold out on the first day and sold more on that day in China than the Fold sells in a year. What people want as a whole, not an individual preference, defines what the best is, and the OPPO is selling well. But if you prefer the Fold, good for you and others, but the OPPO would sell really well if it launched in the US. I have Find X5 Pro and my fav phone of 2022. They are much better than OneUI, smoother, faster and have better battery life. Most people outside China never get to try OPPO, but if you did, you would love it.
@@andyH_England Can you please give me a link or a site for the sales figures? The Oppo Find X5 Pro is such a great smartphone that it sells less well in China and outside China than the high-end Vivo and Xiaomi
@@rolins3279 Since 2013, Samsung has gone from 31.5% market share to 21.5%, and OPPO from 0% to around 10%. Clearly, people outside the US with a competitive market, not restricted like the US, Samsung, are struggling. If the US was open, then Samsung would probably be around 15%
