I'm absolutely loving how much your channel is expanding in more and more toylines, in this case really catching me off-guard! Keep up the GREAT work Paul!
Paul this has to be my favorite video that you have done in 4K so far, well because it was completely unexpected and well in the Ustream last Saturday you said wouldn't do a stuffed animal review...but the fact you just did is both awesome and hilarious. Keep up the amazing work!
When these came out in 1985, They sold out in hours, I was forced to buy one on the Black market for twice the selling price, Thank God I only had one child. Still have my daughter's Teddy Ruxpin now in 2018 and still work's great. I have the metal cassette player version. :)
It feels retro just hearing that old intro music, brings me back to when I was watching your reviews as a kid. :P Every time I think of Teddy Ruxpin I think of the Nostalgia Critic's old Halloween video with him in it, so you doing this review in October is a bit fitting in my eyes lol
I don't have that much disposable income LOL i'd rather use the money to buy things i think people will enjoy the reviews on. This was just something for fun, but as you can see, not many people are bothering to watch it
Hi, Paul! I don’t know how long ago you made this video, but by all means! Get a Grubby! He’s great! I did not have a Grubby until I was well into my adult years and deep in the hobby of collecting vintage toys, and robots of all stripes.
Today's kids are exposed to very different technology than those of the 1980's. Mainly iPads and how those have kind of taken the place of interactive toys. Even the new/2017 Teddy Ruxpin is connected to an iPad app and has characteristics that can be controlled within the app.
hell of a vídeo Paul! honestly one of your ver y beast ones! i also loved Teddy Ruxpin but never has one though, this one was awesome, nos let's see my buddy, some viewmaster 3d's and more vintage stuff!!!
This thing was so awesome and so ahead of it's time. I just scored a for promotional use only one on eBay. It is actually stamed on the box . "Promotional use only not for resale."
Yes, but I guess mine has a wiring issue, so he will still move his mouth (mines eyes dont work, his bottom jaw is always moving, his top jaw moves like it should) Mine is sure a weird one
The original has a charm and warmth to him that this new one seems to miss; it looks too generic and build-a-bearish. Maybe I'm just old and like old things from the 90's... :.(
Woooow yours works great! Mine's eyes dont move and his bottom jaw moves even when its not supposed to. Also, I have to open and close the cassette player a few times while hes on to get him working. I still love him with ALL of my heart. He's is super cute!!!
Fantastic review Paul!!! I absolutely love this. When this originally came out I was nine but for some reason l never got one. I definitely need to track one down because the new one for next year Looks Awesome and I'll definitely grab it and id love to do a compairison. Thanks for the amazing review and keep up the great work.
Hi i remember the o g 1985 teddy ruxpin there was two versions three servos metal box cassette player the later revision had two servos and plastic box cassette player teddy ruxpin will always be my favorite childhood character and phil baron will always be my favorite childhood teddy ruxpin i will never dishonor teddy ruxpin and phil baron
I don't know if the mouth will sync up with the song lol but you probably could play it still. I can't really test that cause i don't have old cassette tapes
The problem is the eye and lip movements. Those were actually pre-programed and recorded to the Teddy Ruxpin cassette tapes which the bear reads and decodes. Regular cassette tapes do not produce the synchronized movement.
I HAVE HIM AND HIS PAL GRUBBY THEY STILL WORK GREAT I HAVE 5 BOOKS & CASSETTE TAPES ALSO ALL OF TEDDY'S OUTFITS I WILL BE GETTING A HOLD OF GRUBBY'S OUTFITS SOMEDAY IN THE FUTURE FROM EBAY FOR CHRISTMAS HOPEFULLY SOON I LOVE THESE TOYS SOOO MUCH I'M SOOO BLESSED TO HAVE THESE AWESOME TOYS FROM 1985 BY WOW
Wow, that's a lot of caps. I wouldn't mind scoring a working Grubby to go with my revision B WoW Teddy (which AFAIK works, but haven't tested with one of the special tapes yet; one is on the way!).
Would have really loved to see the battery case shown. I have this one and can't find what battery type or how to load them. I bought 4, 9 volt batteries however that didn't work.
Well I never found your comparison video...But from what I learned, the 2017 model is blutooth enabled. Most people don't realize wifi frequencies are not healthy in general and especially not for kids due to its frequency waves and cumulative effects. Kids with autism may be more sensitive to these frequencies. So parents -keep it lo-tech - get the 1985 model.
I still have one of those I got as a kid in 1985 it is worth $1000 on the internet if I was to sell it but I think I will keep it I used to also put normal cassette tapes into it and it would sing the songs
Teddy Ruxpin was one of my most coveted toys that I also never got back when I was a kid in the 80's, but my real white whale was Omnibot, by Tomy. Does anyone remember Omnibot? There was an even fancier more expensive one called Omnibot 2000. Paul, if you ever get your hands on one of those, please retro review it! It would be so awesome!
Google it! When you see it you'll wonder how little kid Optibotimus ever lived without it! What little boy doesn't love robots? I mean, we obviously did (and still do)!
hey have you ever reviewed the age of extinction platinum edition autobots united it has evasion mode optimus prime, bumblebee, drift, crosshairs, hound, and drift
Even though this toy is a definite nope for me, I want to get one of those cassettes that have an aux cord attached and play some hardcore metal or dubstep through him and watch as he desperately tries to move his mouth in sync with the music xD
