Keep in mind you cannot control the optical audio volume. So if run to powered speakers you will only be able to adjust the volume by physically tuning the speakers up or down.
@@jellehoek8769 if your headphones have a volume on them then would be ok. Optical signal has no level adjustment. What does work better is a Bluetooth repeater. If you aren’t running to a surround sound receiver.
The best way to convert optical digital audio to analog RCA/jack output is through a dedicated and high quality DAC (digital to analog converter) able to reconstruct the analog signal very accurately and without artifacts. This requires an external power supply able to deliver high signal to noise ratio, over 100 dB, and very low harmonic distortion percentage, like 0.000x %.
The best way is to have a better life to don't expend your time with that sort of comments, but, here we are you and me. In the market exist products especially with old school system were quality potencially competes with the low tier or medium tier hifi, from comercial products like Logitech z623 or Sony's Muteki those old-school are superior enough to worth 10 bucks dongle are far superior than a 500 bucks sound bar or HT, the loss is almost umpredictable for the limit budget people and even to those who got in well shape those old school audio, for example a senior family member who loves his 70's - 90's old school hi-fi audio system and they are right when they claim those speakers are timeless
@@NickArcade Yes, a HDMI extractor can convert digital to analog, but, usually, the HDMI extractor built-in DAC performance is lower than a dedicated one. If your expectations regarding the audio signal quality are not very high, you can use a HDMI extractor with RCA outputs.
Don't forget to buy an optical cable when you get the converter box and do yourself a favor and buy an extension cord or some double-sided sticky tape because that converter box is going to be lightweight and the plug that you plug into it and wires extra will pull it and I'll kinds of directions
So its basically turning the digital signal back to analogue. So you might as well just use jack to jack if you have a stereo jack socket. The output will be the same
Exactly. But even if you keep it digital all the way through ultimately, it needs to be converted to analog sound anyway. I plan on making a video about this.
My TV only has optical out. I want to power up a bluetooth dongle for ear buds. The dongle only has 3.5 MM input. Will a converter allow the use of the dongle? Thanks
Hi, I know this is a longshot but is there a way to go the other way. I have a projector with an aux port and a sound bar that has a broken aux port but an optical port. is there any way to go from aux input to optical output?
The audio converter that i am looking at has a headphone logo but not aux but is it the same so could i connect my rca cable which has an aux output???????
Hi question , Trying to connect TV output optical to stereo Audio on my Bose L1 prop 8 , the analog converters on Amazon show the head set sign in the output side , will that work if I put a audio stereo jack and connect to the the bose sound system thanks very much ash
i have Orca 42" Smart TV OR-42EX470s model. in this tv there was no bluetooth and no audio output point. in this TV only "Optcal-Out" point is available. i need to connect my Extra Speaker box on it. i hope now i get a solution. thanks
You should be able to send the audio from your tv with the optical spdif cable - amzn.to/2Frz7n5 to your home theater if it has the same input. If not, it probably has analog ports and you’ll need this converter too- amzn.to/2SlpoBY and check out the video tutorial here : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8rt-dKgHkEk.html
Hi, my display only have audio jack and my speaker have optical, is possible to use this converter ? meaning : from audio jack display to my optical speaker. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you
what if i need to do the opposite? i need an aux from monitor to soundboard. the audio goes in monitor via hdmi, out via aux to an optic in the soundbar
That’s right. These in the video only work in one direction. I believe there are but obviously more expensive. So yea in your case you'll need an analog to digital converter just like you said.
Can you tell me why I cannot get sound from my Samsung smart tv to my external speakers? I feel I have done everything- almost. Im using an optical cord as that is all my tv has. Thanks.
Ok you don’t have to answer that other response I sent you. So if it’s not working, do you have another optical device you can try it with? What type of audio system are you connecting to?
I connect my samsang smart tv n5300 with speakers through optical to Rca converter. It works 2. 3 days after that there was noisy in music and sound goes down and than no sound.
My soundbar has hdmi in port, optical port, hdmi arc and usb port - my hdmi arc port connected to TV arc and i want to play songs from PC to soundbar, what should I do?
Hi Bro, I have a stupid question. I have both outputs on the TV: Aux 3.5 and Optical SPDIF. And I only have Aux 3.5 on the speakers. My question is: will the Audio quality be better if I use the Converter >>SPDIF Optical to 3.5Aux
Thank you for the information. I would have save a few bucks is I had seen this video before. The cable adapter that you mention on sec 35 it does exist. I just bought it on Amazon. I’m not sure if it was a scam because it does not work, and actually the 3.5 mm looks funny. Can you check if these kind of cables are real?
Well yea later I noticed they do exist but I really don’t see the point in them. If you say the aux looks funny you’re probably looking at a mini optical plug that also exists.
I need help. I want to use my soundbar for my pc. Pc (aux) / soundbar (optic) The converter doesnt work since the input side only has optic/spdif/coaxial whereas the ouput has aux
Hi .My tv is non smart .How can I connect a sound bar to my tv.The wire I got with the sound bar is optical cable which doesn't fix behind my tv as it has audio out but not optical
1 Question : My PC has 3.5mm jack output, and my Sound bar has Optical input. Can we use that Audio converter? But it seems we have to connect the opposite side i.e the input as output, the output as input in that Audio converter. Kindly reply. Thanks.
Hello doctor. To answer your question, let’s start with where the source of audio is coming from. In your case, 3.5 aux is Analog- therefore you will need an Analog TO DIGITAL converter. Here’s one to check out - amzn.to/34TjONX best of luck 👍
@SimpleCafeSound I'm about to purchase the "PROZOR 192KHz DAC Converter".. Since my speakers have a 3.5 jack, do I need to buy an RCA adapter cable, or can I simply plug the jack in?
Unfortunately I do have optical ,hdmi port in my TCL led but my soundar has only 2 wired options 1 is aux and the 2nd is TV in (same like aux ) and the wire which I got along with sound bar is stereo RCA to Aux vable and I didn't know how to connect this with my led need suggestions mate should I buy this optical to aux cable or should I buy Rca to aux connecter to connect with my led ?
Optical is a digital signal which needs to be converted to analog, which is RCA or AUX. and now there are no tables that are like this. Which is why you will need a converter as seen in the video. Just make sure that the converter reads digital to analog.
Hi, it's bad news but we all have to control it through the sound system. May have something to do with optical signal not being preamplified - technical mumbo jumbo.
Thanks for the video! I have an issue here, I have an LG tv plugged into the same converter into my AUX soundbar, everything works well with the local channel. However, when it comes to using RU-vid and Netflix on the TV, it's just white noise coming out from the soundbar. Hope you can help me out with this.
@@SimpleCafeE Thanks for getting back. It's all fixed. I realized that my DAC is not compatible with 5.1 digital audio, therefore I need to select PCM mode for my sound out option on my TV to make it work. Again thanks for the video.
Hi If I use this converter to connect to a additional wired sub and connect the soundbar to eARC would both work simultaneously? Or there would be mismatch in sound or delay ? Would the TV provide sound to both hdmi eARC and optical out together ? My wireless sub with the soundbar isn't upto mark in providing the punch... Let know if this works ?
good information's . but i have a question . can i use both output (aux & rca) in the same time ? for example for 2 headphone's or 1 headphone and one speaker ? cuz i already have an RCA to (female Aux) cable.
What if my TV doesnt have optical but has aux, coax, hdmi (but not ACR) and my soundbar only have HDMI ARC & Optical? Do I need that converter or could I just conmect HDMI - HDMI ARC? will it work?
As far as I’m aware, both have to say ARC. What you’ll need is a analog to digital audio converter like this amzn.to/34TjONX so long as that aux port doesn’t say IN
If the tv does not have audio out then you cannot do this. But, you may still be able to plug your speakers into something like a DVD player that does have audio out.
Hi, I'm in the opposite situation. I haven't got the digital output. My TV doesn't have optical and I've just bought a home cinema the requires to work to be connected with and optical plug. What should I do ? Can it work at all ? TV is a Linsar 60led900f Home cinema is JBL cinema SB170 Sorry I'm french my English isn't great
Your TV seems to have 4 HDMI ports, one of which could be ARC compatible. In this case, you could use a HDMI audio extractor with HDMI ARC input and optical audio output or connect the HDMI ARC output of your TV to HDMI ARC input of your JBL home cinema system. There is no sense in converting from analog to digital and to analog back again, because signal audio quality will suffer degradation.
Yea it’s gotta have an audio out option. Valentin is right. If one of your hdmi ports saysARC, you may use that. Otherwise your only options are the ones in this video here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CsHnqYGldj4.html
hello, please, what if the TV is having only AUX and Coaxial AV. and the sound system is having Optical. can i use Optical audio Adapter to connect to Tv AUX?
Hello! Need ur help.. i have to connect my local projector to my LG dvd home theatre. Tried to use convertor adapter (3.5 jack (projector) to RCA cable as an input to adapter and optical cable as output to my home theatre), but 5.1 audio is not playing. I am forced to choose normal sound mode on netflix n disney. Could you guide me if possible what went wrong or what to do
I have a Samsung SmartTv (Series 7) with digitial audio outport and I bought me a bluetooth transmitter so I can listen with my bluetooth earphones. The transmitter has a aux outport and now my questin is: Can I buy a digitial audio out to aux cable and connect it that way? Will it work? Thanks for the answer and sorry for my bad english
I haven’t seen a working optical to aux cable so I would stick with transmitting through Bluetooth. However there are some bt trabsmitters that have aux out ports so you could connect your headphones that way if you wanted.
Hello so let me get this straight. My laptop has normal hdmi (not arc) and my soundbar has optical. So i can purchase an adapter like the one you showed where input is normal hdmi and output is optical and that will make my soundbar work with my pc? Thank yoy
Yup, the sound is traveling from your laptop to any receiving device (converter) which will push it forward as the ports available in the output side. Just gotta make sure there is an HDMI port on the INput side and an OPTICAL TOSLINK port on the OUTput side. Here’s one-amzn.to/39d4D7L
If it says “out” you’re set. Just plug that aux cable to an aux port for your speakers. If your sound system is coax only, get an analog to digital converter like this one amzn.to/34TjONX
Hey I have a JBL 2.0 all-in-one speaker, it has a optical cable slot. But my computer doesn't have a optical cable slot. Can i use this method for my problem ?
My tv has 3.5 mm line out audio but I have surround sound that only have red and white RCA audio input could you please tell me how to hook up my TV to my sound system
I have a 55inch Samsung smartTV connected to a pair of Monitor speakers with RCA input. 've been using this solution for months, the problem is i can't control the output volume and i have to manually adjust the speakrs knob every time i want to chage it. Any idea of how to control de optical TV audio output with the tv remote? I've seen some DACs with their own remote for input select and volume.. is the only option? Thanks!
Hi Chima, surprisingly optical cables are for the most part not truly better than Aux (analog). Not because optical is bad, but because analog is actually still great!
@@ChrisJayCayton the colored ones are most likely to send audio/video INTO your tv. The headphone jack is your way to go. just plug an aux cord from that to the aux port of your active speaker or the aux port of a stereo. amzn.to/3fiuLe5
So i got this question: can i connect my ps4 to pc powered speakers, being the link through direct optical cable to 3,5 male jack (found an adapter for that). The pc speakers i have only have 3,5 input. I want to avoid any signal conversion, do you think it will work?
Hey Luís. I hope that cable works for you. Please let me know if it does. I myself doubt it though because if it were that simple, those converters wouldn’t exist anymore.
A little late but i have a question. I'm trying to use wired headphones for my PS5 ( i don't like the output from directly plugging into the dual sense controller) but sadly my desktop dac is not working and I've read it's related to the PS5 only supporting UAC1 protocol or something. My current setup, PS5 to TV via hdmi, my TV has a 3.5 jack that's where i connect my speakers for sound. My TV also has an optical out. Will this "converter" bypass the sound coming from my TV dac and mainly use the internal dac of my PS5? It will be PS5 > HDMI >TV> connect optical audio port to converter > headhones. I mainly just want to use the dac on my PS5 since i don't wanna shell out more for dacs that are compatible with the PS5.
...sir, how can i connect my samsung smart tv sounds down to my old sony home theater (no digital/optical audio only RCA and HDMI), does it need an HDMI-output to RCA-input converter or what kind of converter...? ..and no sound connecting from HDMI cable from TV to home theater.....pls. help, thanks in advance..
I have a piano and a speaker which only have one jack port and a aux port. The piano have a aux port and a red and yellow Jack port. To connect both ik I need a aux cord but is there any other way?
I bought the adapter but I get way lower volume on the same speakers I used to use with my previus tv that had aux output instead of digital output...I still haven't found a solution for that...dang it! Help!!
My requirement is, I want to use my JBL make 2.1 dound bar as active speaker for my Karaoke Sound Mixer. My JBL sound bar dosent have 'Audio-In' Co-AXIAL port, it is having Optical Port only. So I require Analog-In to Digital-Out converter i.e Audio-In and Optical-Out converter. So please let me know, 1. Whether I can use my Sound Bar as Active speekar for my Karaoke sound system. 2. Wheter Ananlog to Digital Audio converter is available in market.
Doesn't matter IMO. I have a 1) Samsung MU7000 TV hooked up with HDMI 2). Pioneer 824 Home Theater and a 3) A Avantree Orbit 5.0BT wireless TX. The only audio out from the TV to the Orbit is OPT which limits the volume period. There are no TV settings to restore BT volume back to full volume. I still have full TV speaker Volume and wall mounted surronds but my BT buds and headphones are 1/2 volume. No way around it. Even tried coming out of the headphone jack of the pioneer with a aux cable to the aux of the Orbit but no joy at all. The whole problem is HDMI & the Opt cable and BT 5.0 in my case. Connected to a phone via BT may be different IDK? or Maybe its Covid? Yeah lets blame it on Covid ! Cheers . . .
