Thank you so much for this video Adriaan! It took me another six months to remember to find this video. It's great to come up with optimum designs, then have the customer give you packaging constraints, and our CNC can only do so much :) I love the BSFC optimiser, and I'm thinking of minimizing pumping loss at cruise rpm (minimising fuel consumption). I'll definitely watch this video many times and try the experiments.

@@AdriaanVanNiekerk Hi Adriaan. I should have asked about intake to exhaust valve ratios. How do I optimise exhaust pumping loss vs delivery ratio/BMEP and compression (expansion) ratio? This video makes me think this is possible. WAVE assumes throat diameter based on valve diameter - which can become a variable. Using flow coefficients instead of cfm to account for variable valve diameters. Runner diameter needs to be proportional to throat diameter, and taper (area schedule). What do you think? How do you handle part throttle?

Hi, any idea if this is available in 2023.2 version? Also how do I get to the old UI?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 18 дней назад
Not exactly sure if it is still the case, but when you run a model in the new UI, it will create .wvm file which when opened will open in the old UI 🤞

Hi. Nice videos, they all have been really awsome and helpful. Can you show how to model and simulate a 2 stroke engine? I'm having trouble modeling the multiple ports. It would be great if you can show something about that.

Hi Adrian. IS there any tutorial on how to add a catalyst to the engine model? Including changing the shape and material?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk Год назад
In terms of a catalyst you will only be able to simulate the pressure drop over it. If you want to investigate the chemical reactions in the catalyst, you will have to build a model and connect it to WAVE.

With a given data sheet , if we want to optimise valve timing and Fueling, what all to be be targetted? Spark advance, burn duration, afr is sufficient?
@madhurimaisbiswas
@madhurimaisbiswas 2 года назад
Also in SI weibefunction graph can you specify or defice the SPARK advance point and valve overlap?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 2 года назад
That is something that you need to play around with. If you add them as input parameters and the results show it has little to no effect on the output, then you can remove them. It is a bit of an iterative exercise
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 2 года назад
@@madhurimaisbiswas The valve operlap you can specify in the valve settings. The SI wiebe function does not have an option to specify when the spark happens, but rather just when combustions starts. You could always assume they are one in the same 🤷‍♂️

Hi Adriaan, i have been trying to get my experiment to work, but everytime i run it it shows an error reporting that for some runs cases the sum file does not exist, i checked the folder and it appears to be true, any ideas of why this is happening and how to fix? Cheers!

Can you show how to optimize parameters of a Y-Junction and how to interpret the required data to be given in a Y-Junction?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 3 года назад
I guess the most important parameter of a Y-junction is its volume? You can optimise that, or even look at the friction area or different multipliers.
@adityadadia1838
@adityadadia1838 3 года назад
Can I use the same method for the optimization of Y-Junction? and if yes then which parameter should I assign a variable?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 3 года назад
Yes you can - I think the most common attribute that you can optimise is the volume. Obviously if you are interested in another attribute, you can optimise that as well :-)

How can I add Runner lengths Vs RPM graph in the results ?
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 3 года назад
You will need to vary runner length with rpm in you cases table. Then you will have the option to plot runner length vs rpm

Hi , could you please tell me how it is worth to learn Ricard Wave modelling software in terms of industrial environment
@AdriaanVanNiekerk
@AdriaanVanNiekerk 2 года назад
Hi there! It depends on your use case really. WAVE is a simulation tool that can be used to either understand how the engine works that your are simulating or to optimise it and test different configurations. Most industrial applications I have seen have used WAVE for engine optimision or concept design testing. 👍🏻
