I have read some negative reviews of this stove. I do not see why. I have used the MSR Internationale for over 20 years before I finally ditched it when the pump self destructed. The main design flaw in the MSR is the plastic pump housing. I purchased a NOVA to replace the MSR and am very impressed. The pump is a far superior to the MSR pump. This stove also has great simmer control for an expedition style stove. I am a HUGE backpacking gear junkie and this is a great stove.
@1337Mo Good call on not closing the regulator when hot! I've never had this happen, but I can see how it can get stuck when it cools and the metal contracts. I've only used white gas so far. Although this is a tough, reliable and versetile stove, I found for me it’s just a bit too cumbersome for my needs. It takes up too much room in my pack and it’s more of a hassle to put together and light, shut off and pack up than it needs to be. Thanks for the input! Rocky
I have this and the only complaint i have is the heat shield, they could have put a propper one in with hindges. So guess I am going to buy one myself.
@BigRooster747 The Nova is a bit noisy too, but I haven't heard the dragonfly, so I can't compare. Didn't seem so loud that you couldn't talk over it, just more noise than I like when out in the woods! 8-)
What kind of drawbacks do you think it has? I got a Nova+ my self, and yes, it isn't perfect, but it's solid and reliable. So I like it. What fuel do you burn? I mostly use kerosene, but then you need meth to preheat. And I would recommend you not to close the regulator when it's hot because it will get stuck.
