Transformers voice actor Peter Cullen, known for Optimus Prime and Ironhide, gave a panel at Fan Expo Philadelphia 2023 to talk about his work ranging from the original cartoon to the latest feature film, Transformers Rise of the Beasts.
Peter Cullen is a legendary voice in Transformers, as Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Streetwise, Slugslinger and more. He was also the main narration voice for the 80's Voltron series, has had roles in G.I. Joe, The Original Ghostbusters, Rainbow Brite, Sectaurs, Muppets Babies and many more animated shows. He voiced KARR in Knight Rider and continues to voice Optimus Prime in the live action movies. His latest voice role is Optimus Prime is Transformers Rise of the Beasts.

Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime. If anyone ever asks me who I consider a second father, it is the Optimus character (Cullen). I was only 11 in 1984, my parents were divorced and I was living with mom. Prime made me feel safe and he offered this kid great advice on how to act and behave. I really must try to meet Cullen at a convention soon, he is 81 now. Love ya Peter !!!

I still remember when Optimus Prime demanded Sideswipe’s rocket pack at the end of season 1. Until that moment, Prime had never been really upset. My heart jumped and it said, “Whoa. Dad’s mad.” Love that man. ✨💎✨

My friend had a dream where Peter Cullen was a grandfather figure to her, and he helped her and her family out. My friend is 17 years old and I'm 18 years old. My friend wants to see Peter Cullen at the Philly Fan Expo, so you're not alone on wanting to see Peter Cullen.

What Kevin Conroy was to many people is what Peter is to me. I got into Kevin as Batman very late. But I had Optimus Prime since I was a kid. He is the one to show me what it means to kind and humble. And he will always be MY Hero.

Wend I see that movie of the transformer the movie the part wend Optimus prime died on the table I bust out crying 😭 I cried all the way the movie but your voice of optimus prime was my child hood of whatching and here your voice wend you do the voice of optimus prime

Rise of the Beasts is great, Except for Wheeljack, he is my second favorite Transformer. RISE OF THE BEASTS did my boy wrong. They didn't realize his appeal to fans is not only the flashing face lights, but his rude "New Yorker" voice who actually is a mad genius. Imagine G1 Wheeljack in New York peeking his head out of his workshop window telling loud people to be quiet " Hey, shuddup down dare, I'm woikin here!!"

im not gonna lie bro seeing the promos i didn't have a problem with pablo wheeljack. but when i watched the movie it really just did NOT feel like he was wheeljack. I don't see this guy having a chaotic chemistry with Ratchet whenever he comes. they should've just made him someone like perceptor.

I just saw the movie. As a huge fan of transformers, this is for me the best movie from the year 2023!! I've been waiting 3 years to see the movie and I'm so happy because I'm not disappointed at all.😍 Congratulations Steven Caple Jr you did a great job!! I'm sure he remembered the lines but he changed it. Freedom is the right of all sentient beings -> Peace is the right of all sentient beings. But honestly i think the latter is better. He truly is the Optimus Prime. I'm quite sad that the directors/writers didnt consult him on his lines or the story, or he didnt have any power over it, he is simply there to deliver the lines. Hope in the future they will acknowledge him more or let his thought be heard, because no one in this world has embodied Optimus more than him. Really wish we will see the gentle, kind and loving Optimus who cared for the living, but strong enough when needed, on the live action version, rather than the bitter harsh commander / soldier that can casually say violent things Michael Bay portrayed and in some extent, sadly also to Steven's ROTB version. Hope in the next film we will see his gentle side. If you see this Steven Caple Jr, pretty please?

I had this dream, where Peter Cullen was with his brother Larry, and they both went to visit Scatman Crothers, and I was a neighbor to Scatman Crothers, and then when I was just sitting on the porch, looking out for my package from USPS, and Scatman Crothers was sitting on his porch, just smoking a cigarette, then Larry and Peter Cullen arrived, and Larry said "dad?" And Peter Cullen said "this is Scatman Crothers, Larry. Not our father. Sure... Scatman Crothers was old enough to be considered our dad, because he was in his 30s or 40s when we both were born." And Larry said "you know, Peter. I'd like to imagine that Scatman Crothers would be a good father figure to us, despite the different skin colors we have."
