Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime talks about his audition for Michael Bay, and getting the part of Optimus Prime once again for the live-action Transformers films.
That would be actually crazy! But that will happen in Five Nights In The Auto-Con Factory which is a future game and there will be a scene where Peter Cullen got lost in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and then he encountered G1 Optimus Prime, G1 Catimus Prime, TF5 Optimus Prime and Optimus Sun Aria Prime, then they all introduced each other to each other. *Optimus Sun Aria Prime and G1 Catimus Prime both can't transform unless they use magic and magically transform into any other living being such as a cat or a dog or a wolf or a tiger or a regular human, Optimus Sun Aria Prime is a Human-Autobot-Decepticon while G1 Catimus Prime is a human-Cybertronian. So that explains it...*
Agreed. And he needs to talk to Prime. Like, pull up in his truck, Prime's window is down. Then Peter talks to him, and when Prime answers he just figures it's coming from inside the truck, through the window. Could be the funniest shit ever.

A lot of us here owe this man a huge portion of our childhood’s, and for his portrayal of leadership & nobility. Optimus is one of those rare characters where he’s defined, in a major way, by his voice. There could never be another one like him. Love ya right back, Pete. Thanks for the awesome childhood memories.
Conor Doyle he may be your generation, but Cullens voice through Optimus Prime is resonated throughout history. You’ve got Optimus Prime, but you have had Clint Eastwood, Thatcher, the Queen, Churchill, Jimmy Stewart, Hanks, Washington, Freeman and many more than I can count in the last 50 yrs alone. While Cullen does a fantastic job, he is scripted. He does the script justice through his own personality. It’s a multifaceted act of ability you see through the lens, which resonates in folk. That’s cinema magic.
@@Jammil2477 Except Peter Cullen taps the creative imagination of what a noble leader means, which is why he and his character resonates so much. We have the mythological idea of what a noble leader means and that is King Arthur, which is why he still talked about hundreds of years later. Real life is far tougher to define what a noble leader means, since there are a lot of people that dislike all of the names you have listed that were real life world leaders. For one person that has had a peaceful life, there exists one person that has had the opposite. That life is represented by Prime's legendary foe, Megatron.

Peter Cullen and Frank Welker seem like genuine fun loving guys. You can tell Cullen does it with such a passion, because Optimus Prime is based on his now passed brother who was a veteran. Which I feel is such a sweet gesture.

I also even attempted to commit suicide but then, I was saved by a female Sunerican Marine Captain and that marine captain is Rose LinKinStar and she lectured me on why I shouldn't kill myself... and I told her that I won't do it again and so I have been trying to not have the urge to kill myself!...*
Well tbf, Garry Chalk had been Optimus for longer than Peter had been prior to the films. From Beast Wars all the way to Cybertron (but not RID). Garry was Optimus for a lot of kids. Definitely a good thing they brought Peter back though, I just don't know why he hasn't gotten more roles in other properties, such a rare voice!

Well like Peter said, Michael Bay knew jack squat about Transformers before making the first film. I'm guessing Bay had no idea who Peter Cullen was, just that the massive, rabid fanbase wanted him cast as Optimus Prime so he brought him in to audition.
He also hadn’t done the role in close to 20 years at that point so it makes sense, but that being said, I am FIRMLY of the opinion that Peter Cullen’s voice acting is the reason why transformers resonated so strongly with so many of us for so long. He truly held gravitas with every word he spoke, even the most ridiculous lines they would give him,
Micheal bay asking Cullen to audition.. Peter should have responded “I am optimus prime!!” I am almost 40 now, these guys are my heroes man. I grew up with gen 1 and I feel honored

3:40 Aw, we all love you too! Peter Cullen gave the Bayformers movie heart, without him, they'd be nothing. Though I wonder, how with fan opinion behind Peter resuming his role that Frank Welker didn't get the same oppertunity to reprise his role as Megatron! There have been many people voicing Prime and Megatron over the years, but all fall far short of those two voice acting icons!
Well Frank Whelker wasn’t even in the first film. I dunno if he didn’t get to audition, or his schedule was too busy. But he didn’t get to play Megatron/galvatron until age of extinction. But hey that might’ve been what got Whelker to be Megatron again for transformers prime
When I heard he was going to play Optimus I was sold I didn't care if the movie was terrible but to see him as live action Prime on the big screen I was like let's go

Well, it proves what we knew all along, Michael Bay didn't conceive of doing the first Transformers film out of any love or appreciation of the show, but for money since he didn't know a damn thing about it until after it was already underway.
Having all those millennials in the audience not getting anything he said at times was so cringe. You can see the discomfort in his face when they couldn't get the punchlines. Such amazing talent and karisma this man and Frank Welker have. God bless them both!!

Same how Frank Welker was Soundwave but not Megatron (even though Hugo Weaving did a great job). But I remember being confused when I watched the end credits and wondered if they had Megatron's original voice actor why wasn't he Megatron?
I disagree by a huge margin..... Christopher Nolan is great storyteller but then he never goes on the fantasy angle....he could be made BANE in dkr so much.more.menacing but he stays away from cgi ....and that's Michael bay with his over the top sky rocket budgets for the 1st transformers(along with Steven Spielberg) was the best bet
Peter did inject a little bit of John Wayne into OP, but most of the voice was based on his older brother whom he looked up to & served in the military.

And the ONLY reason he cast Peter was because of pressure from the fans, and likely the studio. And THEN, in behind the scenes interviews, he has the nerve to say "we brought Peter on to do Optimus, obviously, we couldn't get anyone else, so iconic." Like piss off dude, you never cared and you still don't.

Dude there are plenty of ppl who grew up outside of g1 for my family because of the age range it was Beat wars and Armada reruns, hell i was 2 when 07 movie came out but i already knew wat Transformers was and so did a lot of friends of the family just by see or hear Prime or Megatron
He should've done his research first. No excuses. Transformers had also been revived a few times by that point with Beast Wars, Energon, Armada. The toys were still being made & sold as well. You don't go into a franchise that's over 20 years old without learning all you can about it first. It made Michael Bay look like an idiot.
The fact that Peter Cullen, the ORIGINAL voice of Optimus Prime, the man who breathed LIFE into the character, had to audition for the role HE made famous for a guy who knew NOTHING about The Transformers (& still doesn't) is a fucking TRAVESTY! 🤬

I could imagine Peter Cullen just releasing his anger that had built up over time and that he had compressed all of his anger into a little tight storage and it all built up over time, even after his brother died and then Peter Cullen getting so mad and that he lets out his anger out on Michael Bay by simply yelling at Micheal Bay like as if Peter Cullen was Michael Bay's father who got angry at him.... then making Michael Bay just cry shamefully in fear...
