A small added detail : The game is actually in 3D relief.... kinda. Relying on the Pulfrich effect, the depth perception is based on the object(s) movement based on the camera : If it goes on the left, it'll look far away and on the right, it'll look close. In fact, you'll notice in game that the ball only goes on the right when it's close. Normally you're supposed to play this game with the pair of cardboard glasses given with it (pricy on ebay...) but if you want to try it, simply grab a cheap pair of sunglasses and only cover your right eye. Small trivia : it's the same effect used in the 90's show "Space strikers" with parts of the episodes playing weirdly with the layers to give the maximum effect.
@@overwhelmed-gamer One more thing : That's the same effect used in the game "Jim Power The Lost Dimension 3D" on SNES explaining the weird parallax used. This is quite a non sense to use it there since it's a platformer and the character can go in the other direction (reversing the depth effect). However, 2 (?) levels involved an automatic scrolling (horizontal shoot em up) allowing for the effect to work during the whole level.
