Excellent in depth review on tech details that really matter. Beautiful boat , don't understand people who snub at it coz it ain't luxurious enough . You got all the amenities you need and it's so easy to maintain . Hope this one goes racing to next year , Route du Rhum , Arc Rally ...we could see records broken

Can't argue too much with you on that mate. Bang for buck the ol' orc seems to make a mark though. Once you experience the performance it's a bit of an epiphany and the gods shine down on you. Sell your kidneys, dog and distant relatives.....

Many people say mc cats are very spartan and they are but not this one. This actually looks like it's is a modern/minimalist style which younger people dig. It's a good balance of price/performance/comfort. Most boats are stuck in the romantic/classic look. Those look fine now but if you think of the resell value 10 to 15 years down the line to aging millennials, this really makes much more sense. HH and Outremer are going this style now too with their newer models.

Love your channel and always anxious to hear anything about the performance/build/ride/advantages of the NEEL 51. I’m intrigued by what Erik has done with this form factor and think there may be a good chance that the new 52 might just be the boat to convince my Sylvia that a circumnavigation is a FANTASTIC retirement project. It’s an up hill battle but I’m making headway. Lol. Keep up the great content!!

I’m curious if you (or any other sailors) ever considered a portable battery powered AC unit something like what “Zero Breeze” offers? I think it would not be too much trouble to 3D print an attachment to fit into a window or hatch to off-gas the hot air… No internal ducting, no seawater…

Hi, the sea water helps with efficiency and it's definitely an option but may as well go for a normal aircon mini split and a generator

Most cats are around 9m wide or thereabouts. I didn't have too much problems and the community of other sailors are pretty helpful in giving advice on various locations to haul out. Remember, how to commercial vessels do it?

MC added more comfort to their ORC 57 compared to previous too minimalist MC boats, which is a good business strategy. However, what I do not get is why the ORC57 price doubled within 2 years. I am referring to a "chose your boat" youtube video which said the ORC 57 starting price was 1.085 M€ back in 2020. You are saying it is now 2.1 M€. Any explanation from MC, because it makes no sense to me? Thank you for this great detailed video (with no patreon, no commercial...really appreciated!) - BTW, Scheiber is not german :) - Thanks again!

Dummy, this boat in the video has quite a few extras. Furthermore, I think inflation has nailed us all. I dropped a link for Scheiber in the video. I am full of mistakes these days, must be getting old.
@jamesaron1967
@jamesaron1967 Год назад
As much as I like this model over its smaller siblings, I still feel it's too minimalist to live aboard for me. Interior room isn't too bad but that bland almost 'clinical' looking interior will get old fast. As I commented in another channel, the ORC models are great as race machines, weekend getaway boats or for making quick time on passages that aren't very long, but don't sell your comfortable home to live indefinitely on them. I don't think they were designed with that in mind, although no doubt there will be people who will want them for just that reason.
@carryonsailing
@carryonsailing Год назад
Thanks for the dialogue here folks, this is fun. The BEST thing about sailing is we have a choice. To me it says a lot that these cruising boats are probably the most raced of any in a given season and when they do, they usually win or take podiums at least. From the motorsport world that I know, people fall into different brands that fit their needs. I have never heard a single rider jump off a bike and complain there is too much power....If I could surgically attach a high revving 1000cc inline 4 cylinder bike between my legs and conjure up the idea of a boat, I think this could be it. Its crazy that you can take your dog and lady along for the ride too. The dog and skipper should go on a diet though....
@jamesaron1967
@jamesaron1967 Год назад
@@carryonsailing James, what you say has merit and I fully understand where you're coming from. I've driven race-tuned cars on the street for many, many years when I was younger. It's not an issue of power or speed, or whether it can be done or even if it _should_ be. Everything is subjective, and the reasons someone chooses one thing over another is always subjectively justifiable, irrespective what another feels about it. To each their own, as they say. I can only speak for myself, but if I were to be given the choice between a purpose-built very high performance car and one that was fast but a more drivable all around vehicle, I'd definitely choose the latter today. What I found acceptable as a young adult driving those cars, i.e., rock-hard suspension, crazy noise levels, cramped interiors, high fuel consumption, etc., I just couldn't live with nowadays. Creature comforts count, and never more when the vehicle in question is also one's residence. To conclude, I think the reason there may be some 'disapproval' for the ORC 57 is not due to its performance levels or anything inherently wrong with the boat (nothing wrong with this beauty), but the average demographic of your subscribership. I am pushing 60 and I imagine there are many in my age bracket or older who watch your videos. You look to still be under 40, so considerably younger. Therefore, your viewpoint might change later on in life. Mine has. I used to be a speed fiend and to some degree still am, which is why I watched all your ORC 57 videos with great appreciation, and love all your content
@carryonsailing
@carryonsailing Год назад
Thanks for taking the time to write. Also thanks for the complement regarding my age....If I am allowed to add value by doing detailed reviews of a few other boats, then I will take a look at those. Not only multihulls. I very much appreciate your perspective and for that reason all boats should be considered. Price, comfort, fit for purpose and pleasure. Safety is paramount and a significant reason why I do what I do with the channel. For that reason anything less than a certified Cat A CE approved vessel is out the window. Thanks for your support as always. Really enjoy connecting with people like yourself......Carry on!

Nice boat for regatta’s and short stay. Personally I don’t believe one wants to race around the world all the time. We go over comfort in general. When you live aboard for as long as you we do. You look different act this trend in which we now also see many on RU-vid going to trimarans which are equally terrible to live on. Every boat is a compromise though and every owner has its own ideas. We wouldn’t give this another look. Too small, spartan, and too minimalistic in every way. Yet we watch your channel to see new developments and small ideas that may make it to what we call ( without disrespect meant) “real live aboard boats.”

Hi Walter. In my view luxury is sailing and not fixing stuff. So this is more attractive to me. Also the mind blowing performance is sexier than a super model in a bikini.

The only thing that gets to me with this boat are the window levels. Looks uncomfortably low/narrow in the saloon and what is the idea with the window the owners head? People will look my cock straight in the eye if they are swimming by while I'm having a wizz, should put a sign outside with a apology in advance, or perhaps an invite either way
