Do not use my videos!!! You will be reported!!!
Host behaviorist Amber
Ulises with behaviorist Kristi
Nakai with behaviorist Erin, helped by Missy
Orkid with behaviorist Mike
Keet with behaviorist Michelle/Jen
love how amber told those kids not to climb up those metal wires.
i got the thumbnail picture just in time as Ulises came out first, during their spy hop.
@16:00 we get new orcas from the right side with
Corky
Makani with behaviorist Brad
Ikaika with behaviorist Candace
@16:57 i thought it was Ikaika that messed this up, as he didnt do what candace asked of him, but Makani comes in the pool, Ikaika sort of chats with him, like asking what did you do? lol as Kristi explains, Corky chases Makani in the main show pool, to discipline him.

Ultimately, what's going on is the collagen in the dorsal fin is breaking down. One reason this may happen is from temperature. Warmer temperatures can disrupt collagen's structure and rigidity. Which may explain why more captive whales have curved fins. In captivity, whales breach the surface more often, exposing their fins to the warmer air. It doesn't take long for this process to happen. One group developed curved fins after a month in captivity. But once the group was released back to the wild the fins reverted to normal.

It’s so crazy... how does each one know when to go when? Like they’re so synchronized it’s very cool I feel bad obviously wild animals shouldn’t be held in captivity unless in a rehab shelter or like a sanctuary to help their population & rescue.. but seeing these majestic creatures and how very intelligent they are is absolutely incredible.. God bless the good ppl who truly love & respect them and take good care of them..

I was amazed at that too, and I get that they should have been left in the wild but now only 3 of the last 20 orcas are wild caught, the rest were born at SeaWorld or another oceanarium, it’s amazing like kyuquot whose almost 10 thousand pounds and perform flips with ease, these amazing animals are very smart...

One has to remember that when many of these Orcas were initially captured; whale hunting was going on hot and heavy. As Chief Dan George wrote: if you talk to the animals, they will talk to you. If you do not talk to them; you will not know them. What one does know; one will destroy. There are 2 types of Orcas transient and pod. Completely different. People are very aware of Orcas because of their aquarium existence. How concerned are you the people for still hunted Sperm, Humpback, Blue or Grey whales. Humans typically join the rah, rah of the moment..

I think they handled to situation well. They are animals and animals have a hierarchy and the trainers allowed them to keep their response to behaviors they don’t like. A young dog or chicken would get the same response from an elder no matter the age gap. I think the trainers did a great job conducting the presentation and explaining the situation. I am glad they are no continuing the breeding and capturing of these beautiful animals. Funding animal education and protection is one thing but exploiting them for profit is wrong when it clearly has shown to affect their health and well-being being in captivity. That part is sad.

funny you mention that, when theyre not performing, they do get to play with toys, Makani for example loves any color lifesaver on top of his head, loves carrying it around, and with the live food, they constantly put live fish in their tanks, during a show, Makani chased a fish and totally forgot about the presentation going on, and ignored his trainers LOL did he get punished for his actions, of course not, thats why some shows goes wrong, like when Corky got mad at Makani as explained by Kristi (trainer that went on the mic) during this show, which some people just fast forward through a video not seeing what went wrong, only wanting to see what went wrong LOL

@Tilikum16
@Tilikum16 5 лет назад
it did end 2 years ago, the show called "One Ocean" now its more of a live documentary type show called "Orca Encounter" ...... the company's San Diego park "will conduct an interim orca educational presentation in the pool that is also used for underwater viewing ... while we remove the existing theatrical moving screens and show set in the stadium and replace them with a natural backdrop that will reflect the natural world of the orca," SeaWorld San Diego spokesperson Dave Koontz told the media.SeaWorld's orca shows have been seen by more than 400 million people over the previous decades. But the company's next phase will transition from applause-getting tricks to "new, inspiring, natural orca encounters" emphasizing "orca enrichment, exercise, and overall health"-while its remaining captive whales remain alive.

Here lemme explain. SeaWorld claims that this condition is common-however, in the wild, it rarely ever happens and is a sign of an injured or unhealthy orca. The phenomenon is more common in captivity, but people have also seen wild orcas with curved fins. So, the cause cannot be captivity alone. Ultimately, what's going on is the collagen in the dorsal fin is breaking down. ... In captivity, whales breach the surface more often, exposing their fins to the warmer air.

I understand that most of these orcas were born in captivity and most likely cannot be freed. They don’t have the endurance, the language skills and knowledge needed to survive. Many are not even pure eco-types so they wouldn’t be accepted into existing wild pods. Not to mention that most of their teeth are in need of daily care. BUT we know more about the need of orcas than we did when these tanks were built. Let’s make them bigger. The parking lots sure have some extra land. Let’s give them more to interact with, other than blank walls. Maybe the pools could have jets and currents. Just because an animal is surviving in its current environment, that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve more. Orca are too special to be treated like dancing poodles. We need to make the most of having them in captivity. Let scientists get in there and learn as much as we can, so hopefully we will use that knowledge to protect the wild orca. Make the sacrifice of these orca’s freedom garner more than dollars.

While extensive research and training would have to go into releasing orcas into the wild, sea sanctuaries are still a viable option for these animals. These sea sanctuaries would also provide ample space for these creatures, as well as a chance to slowly learn their natural tendencies in nature. While it's not the same as being released into the wild, it is still a vast step-up from what they have currently.

While they probably are sad and depressed....their fins collapsed likely due to them not having enough water and from gravity. They don't droop fins because of mood.

It’s mainly due to the fact they are fed thawed out fish and that they have don’t have a space big enough to swim freely in like they would in the sea has nothing do to with gravity or having enough water 😂😂 when the fin is dropped over in the sea it usually means they are injured or unhealthy which is very rare to sea 👍

FYI @happyhealerforpresident2029 The animals at every Seaworld are fed regularly and have the best quality of food, vitamins and have the best medical care. The fish that they are being given is a Treat not a meal. People that are concerned about the animals that are in captivity should really get a job at one of these parks to see how amazingly these beautiful creatures are treated. I used to feel the same way about the orcas being in captivity then I had a job at one of the parks and learned so much about how they are treated and cared for.

I’ve seen many comments talk about how ridiculous it is when people say that the bent dorsal fins are do to the whale being sad or sick bc whales in the wild can be sad and sick as well but theirs don’t bend. This is a very good point but I’d say that this would qualify as a different kind of sad or sick. It’s obvious that this only happens to captured whales living in captivity. The defeat, and helplessness that comes with that is a kind of sadness that wild don’t experience. Wild whales are at the top of the food chain and these whales have no control of their environment or food. I personally think there’s several factors that could play a part in causing the bend, the main one being not able to swim the distances, speed and depths as the wild ones are used to and the open ocean has many currents that can be quite strong so they need to be strong to match the environment. So basically I think it mostly comes down to the environmental differences. Sadness my not be the cause of the fin bending but I wouldn’t call anyones opinions ridiculous. Of course they’re sad, that’s not a crazy statement in my opinion. What I do think is crazy or ridiculous is the fact that people go around putting others down and thinking they’re smarter then others when in reality it’s ok if someone do know something plus anyone can be wrong. Hell even our scientists and doctors and specialist get things wrong. Being wrong is part of learning and growing. The dunning Kruger effect always amazes me. Maybe it’s the ego refusing to be wrong or people just wanting to feel superior to others but that’s the part that seems ridiculous to me. Sorry for the rant y’all have a great day

thats the only thing that bugs you ?!?! SeaWorld does call them what they are, and thats where i found out they are the largest dolphins....in fact @8:37 they say just that, and how many times did u hear Orca, even the title says Orca Encounter. not Killer Whale Encounter... oh by the way..... en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Killer_whale The killer whale or orca (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member. Killer whales have a diverse diet, although individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey.

They don’t have skills anymore to go into the wild also they travel and migrate during the seasons and that doesn’t happen in a pool smh 2020 humans are treated like captive animals now y’all know why they be going wild 😜 I also notice how the fin is much smaller and the whale 🐳 is big so maybe that’s why the fin didn’t bow

I was at Sea World San Antonio back in 2006. A male Orca slid up on the platform in the head & tail up position and refused to budge. They did a wonderful job of explaining that animas are going to do what they'll do when they want to do it. So, staff was just going to ignore him and let him get down in his own time. It was the best temper tantrum I've ever seen. 😆

I’m sure you remember what happened to Willy aka Keiko everyone saw the film Free Willy and found out he wasn’t really free.. People were out raged and demanded he went back to Iceland where they captured him when he was two years old. Mind you He’s been with his trainers, Hollywood in motion pictures, he has been training for people for 25 years & he LOVED his fans. They had to raise $20 million to get him out of Mexico they had to build him a brand new tank in Oregon which was beautiful by the way I think he should have lived out his last year’s in Oregon.. Instead it took four or five years to get him healthy and ready for “the wild” You know how stressful it is to get an 8000 pound orca from the United States to ICELAND 😳 it cost soooo much money - finally Keiko was freed. He Immediately traveled 900 miles to Norway he was swimming up to boats Frantically looking for a human companionship, he was also showing up to people that had a oceanfront backyard and he would never leave. We didn’t ask HIM if this is what he wanted? The ocean is a scary place! He cried for his owners, his home he Eventually died four months later after being freed, he died of pneumonia and loneliness, starvation. If Lolita is freed The same thing will happen to her because she’s triple his age, I’m sure she loves her owners and trainers. Where she lives is unacceptable, people have swimming pools bigger than where she lives. Miami Seaquarium makes big bucks all year around instead of trying to free her they need to find better resources of getting her in a bigger tank. She also need shade from the Miami sun, I live in Miami and I’m gonna visit Lollita on Thursday. But People need to calm down about this whole freeing the orcas, its like kicking A five-year-old out the house and say get it together, you’ll figure it out!

For Lolita, there was a plan to have her in an enclosed netted area in a bay, I can't specifically remember where, but there were plans for her to be free but also not just left to her own devices after decaades of captivity. Keiko's treatment was really horrible, and I think people have learned from it.

I'm so torn with Sea World. I'm 38 now and haven't been since I was about 12 or 13. But as a kid starting at about 7/8 yo, my mom used to take my cousin and I every summer to Sea World. We are close in age, both only children, and while we are unfortunately no longer in each others' lives, we grew up like brother & sister at the time. He had a very traumatic childhood and was raised by my grandmother that wouldn't have taken him anywhere had it not been for my mom and our Sumner and holiday visits with them. I also didn't get to do much the rest of the yr or have a lot of friends so I always looked forward to our Summer Sea World visits, especially since I've always loved animals. So my memories with Sea World as a kid are extremely cherished. Now as an adult I understand things for what they really are and it truly sucks. I haven't gone or supported them in years even though I have to admit I do miss it. But regardless of the things that have come to light about them, I can't say I regret going as a kid. It was a special time with my cousin, mom, and grandma...all that would be ruined later on on life, and I'm so glad I have those incredibly fond memories to look back on...

All captive adult male have collapsed dorsal fins, likely because they have no space in which to swim freely and are fed an unnatural diet of thawed dead fish. SeaWorld claims that this condition is common-however, in the , it rarely ever happens and is a sign of an injured or unhealthy .
