I'm so glad that he survived his terrible encounter with the boat!!! He is like a cat, I guess, having more than one life. Hope he doesn't have to use anymore of them!
If humans are going to spend time on the ocean, they need to show some respect to the creatures who live there......put something over the blades to cover them and make it less likely that they'll strike an animal in the water. If people don't want to do that, they have no business on the ocean. It's not their home, after all. The sea belongs to creatures like Ben and he deserves to be respected.
It's actually very easy for an orca to accidentally bump into the prop of a boat, and yes, some people with big fishing boats are dickheads who drive like maniacs. Ben was probably very curious about people after his stranding, approached a boat, and got hit. I think you might be underestimating the relative size of some vessels as well. Luna wouldn't have been much younger than Ben was, and we all know how that ended. :(
Yes Google search 'Orca Research Trust' for the website. You'll find the link to everything on there. They also have a Facebook page Dr Visser also has a great book called Swimming with Orca: My Life with New Zealand's Killer Whales.
This women (ingrid) has the biggest ego ive seen in any rescue teams. She loves seeing an animal of that size at her complete mercy (loves to experiment at their risk). She actually thinks the Orca`s recognize her and not anybody else.
lmao you're just jealous because you will never have the same experience. this woman has studied these creatures for a few decades now. your tiny brain will never be able to comprehend how she deals with orcas. go study marine biology, study these creatures, and come back until you have been enlightened.
