Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Isotype 

Saw OMD 1978 in Sheffield LIMIT club. Where did the time go !!! I'm old now and still loving OMD.

Despite so many music artists citing the need for change which cause them to lose their defining identity many years later ... OMD never lost their unique sound all these years, albums after albums, always fresh and exploring new directions yet never losing a sense of who they are, always retaining a strong sense of their uniqueness ... Thats the kind of growth fans love, its why fans will always stick around for their next output ...

40 years...and it's always amazing !

OMD still has the magic touch on their keyboard. And all their thoughts in their head. makes this a super nostalgic feeling song even on your 1st listening. although a good friend introduced it to me several yearss ago.

The visual effect is absolutely out of this world! I could watch this for hours. The accompanying song is equally beautiful, I love this melody.

Feels like 1982; and that's a good thing.

The synth is the chorus . . . Love it!

Absolutely in love with this track !! What a great year 2017 is shaping up to be musically. First Depeche release an album that's not an utter disappointment, then Erasure deliver a fantastic set of songs, and a few weeks ago Alison Moyet shows she still has love for experimental, electronic pop music. And now this. This is Classic OMD - that perfect blend of beautiful melodies, great hooks, lush synths and that little sprinkling of oddity on top that only they know how to make work. I AM IN HEAVEN.

Nobody's talking about the theme of this incredible song? It's about the death of literacy, and the return of pre-literate symbols in communication. Luckily nobody ever said "never go full Kraftwerk". Because they did!

Through the decades, OMD always sound fresh and impressive!!

Perfection definitely has a name when it comes to electronic music and it goes by Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark!

Lately I'm back on OMD. Back in the days wasn't their nr 1 fan, now all these years later I love them. They were brilliant.

Love this track, Paul really makes the synth sing.

How come someone who can sing so good and make some brilliant songs not be megastars. Baffling. These guys have made some fantastic songs. 👏

this is actually the ultimate example of the perfect wedding between Paul and Andy's creative genius, once it was initially supposed to be only a two minute piece wrote by Andy in the same vein of Atomic Ranch, but then Paul came up with that infectious synth-driven track and Andy was like "Oh my God, now I'm gonna have to make it into a proper song, and what the hell do you write about Isotype??"

AWESOME brand new song from OMD... what a masterpiece... so melodic... frenetic... powerful... energetic... what a sound for my body ... so... good vibes...

Utterly brilliant. I have had this on repeat for ages now, very loudly, through headphones. OMD at their very best!

Beautiful classic-sounding OMD! And this video is hypnotic, loving the visuals! Can't wait for the album... I have enjoyed collecting dozens of OMD albums and singles on vinyl and CD from the range of UK and foreign issues. A great band with a unique and rich sound. OMD never pushed for massive fame and fortune, marketing was always modest, labels were always small and usually indie. Yet their role in British music is under-rated and deserves serious attention from anyone looking for a band that always tries to remain fresh without breaking far from tradition... a couple of weak albums in the 80s - but never so disappointing that you lose faith in what they were trying to acheive. By remaining experimental OMD never has to worry too much about disappointing its core fanbase, it doesn't have a singular sound, it blends genres, ideas and concepts and pumps out interesting and splendid results. Anyone who hasn't heard classic OMD, I recommend you find a copy of "The Best of" compilation album which covers upto 1988, then, when you're familiar with their best known hits, dip into any of their 12 studio albums to date and you're guaranteed to find something appealing.

If not, there should be, just for them. ... and Kraftwerk :) By the way, Kraftwerk have been called the Beatles of Electronica. If so, then these guys are the Rolling Stones of it. :D

I've always considered OMD to be a fantastic band, but the song "Isotype" is a true, wonderful masterpiece of this amazing group. Anyone who listens to this track with understanding and watches it on RU-vid should grasp the concept of ISO standards. If not, they must comprehend the pros and cons of standardization in our lives and its impact on us.
