This is a time lapse video of one of my Phalenopsis orchids blooming.
This is my first time lapse video ever. Taken over the course of three days, one shot taken every 20 seconds using the built in intervalometer of my Nikon D7000. I realize now that that is overkill, as I used roughly every three pictures from the sequence. However, it did allow me to fine time and get rid of a lot of shaken frames, and also add more frames to where the orchid actually pops open. I was surprised to see how quickly the bloom popped open from a bud to partially open.
The shift in the video is due to one of my tripod legs not being tightened quite enough. Next time I do this, I will shoot tethered to a laptop, increase my f stop for a deeper focal plane, and block out all natural light.
Quite the learning experience.
