This video is about Can you fertilize orchids while blooming?
Orchids require very low amounts of fertilizer when they are actively growing leaves and roots. When they are producing blooms, their active growth slows, reducing the amount of fertilizer they need even further. ... Fertilize budding orchids once every three to four weeks throughout the blooming stage.
homeguides.sfg...
Fertilization affects bud development and flower emergence.
Depending upon the variety, orchid plants bloom one to two times per year. These delicate, tropical flowering plants are sensitive to fertilizer, especially during their budding and flowering stage. Understanding fertilizer’s purpose and formulations, application rates and timing are important for successful care of your budding orchid and avoiding overfertilization. Hardy orchid varieties grow in U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6 through 9, and half-hardy varieties grow in zone 11. You can also grow potted orchids indoors in any zone.

I also have the Better Grow you use. Do you follow the ppm of the solution at all. I don't know enough to know whether I'm using too much or not enough. I'm new to your site but I'm totally enjoying it. Thank you for being there for all of us "Dummies",

Bless you Bless you 🙏🏿 I have been working months trying to understand enough for myself to simply. Only use a pinch and a pinch of epsom salt. Try to use rain water but if you use tap leave the epsom salt out. I have my PPM pen and it’s goes green to red. I have the PH strips. Stay Tuned Darling ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@OrchidsforDummies I don't use Tap water except for general flushing (once a month). I have a Zero Water Filter as rain water is difficult and snow will be here before we know it. I repotted a few of my Phals. tonight. I did the "pinch" of Epsom Salts & Cal Mag for the ones NOT in spike. Tomorrow I'm hoping to use the same basic salt and cal-mag but will add a pinch of Better Gro as I have 4 Phals in spike. Would I be hurting my other oncidiums, dendrobiums, etc. with this same treatment? I hope not because I did use it on a couple of both kinds. I love your enthusiasm and "Phal/Pal" address to us all. I feel like I'm in your kitchen watching you show us what to do. Fun!

If you make your feed, wait for at least an hour before you use it, it takes a while before it dissolves properly (and hand warm water is good it can take up more feed then cold water) 😁

Hi, I’ve heard you should flush with plain water after using the orchid food. Is that correct?

I mist my buds on phals and helps keep them moist and from falling off. Try it and see how it works for you.

So sorry for the late response. I either put the water in the microwave or sit my rain jug in boiling water to heat it up. Any more questions let me know and have a Happy Growing from your PhalPal Durrell ❤️❤️🙏🏿🇺🇸
