That was a very nice update. Thank you for all the amazing and informative videos you uploaded. Your channel is a great inspiration for me. I have ordered my first few mini phalaenopsis and now I'm worried that the UK is too damn cold lol

Thanks for the great update. I live in the US and my bc Maikai Louise has a super vigorous branching rhizome. Gets multiple spikes with 3-7 fragrant flowers per spike usually starts in December and finishes in February. Mine seems to need direct sun exposure to bloom. I grow indoors.

They all look great! I had a Cattlianthe Portia coerulea do the same with two new growths as your C.G. Roebling did - they blackened and died, and I was sure the plant was sick or done for. But I treated it with a systemic fungicide, because I didn't know what else to do. I later even tested it with an Agdia test, which revealed no virus. The plant grew fine since then and has flowered twice. I did test another Cattleya - just for fun - and it turned out to have CymMV. Which is odd, because it grows vigorously, the leaves show no markings, and there is no colour break on the flowers.

I mistaked one of my Catts too.. the rhizome looped around and i thought i was cutting in a good spot, but it was the end, not the middle.. sadness.. 😢

The ones I have that are giving me trouble and new to me are, cattleya Mount fuji, and Fitch ' Izumi' the tags say. Its like you said, a learning experience. They were in dire straits last year when I got them the Fitch Izumi has been the most fickle, but only had 2 very small pseudobulbs so she has quite aways to grow. But has finally growing a new bulb so fingers crossed. Do you have either of these? I'd love to see a live one instead of just pictures.

I heard it said that being an aquarium hobbyist often leads to plant keeping, and I just bought a Dendrobium Anosmum "Honohono" orchid so apparently it's true. 🤣

You often say this.. Repot Catts only when you see new roots. Is it that this fact is being stressed because Catts have very sensitive roots and otherwise this rule of repot while you see new roots applicable for all orchids

Hi, it’s not a bad rule for any orchid, but in my experience only the Catts make you regret not following it because of their sensitive roots and strict growth patterns, most others are quite chill 😎 except Catasetums and deciduous things 🤭

They look better ten my Dendrodium Berry Oda which I bought at winter in full bloom, but now all of it`s leafes just fallen of, and all of the stems are drying slowly. It gives keiki`s but they can`t grow enough big to grow roots to survive replanting in orchid medium. And I can`t find anything about it that help`s me. 😭This particular orchid we see just in bloom, not in their worst shape. Help me please... 🥲
