I really wanted to get to the bottom of how Order of Battles supply and efficiency mechanics work. And so I made a test map and tested the mechanics. These are my findings...
Test map will go up on The Vault if anyone wants it.

To make it short: 1. Efficiency is like morale in Total War games. Units do less damage as their efficiency drops. And in zero efficiency, you can easily rout them without taking a damage in return. 2. Supply line allows your units inside to recover their strength and efficiency. Strength itself, is like health in Total War games.

The parameter of the troops here is measured in % 1 unit = 10 % It is always rounded up. For example, 64 % will be shown as 7 units in the troop parameters.

Supply is very important in how the scenarios are designed in the game. Game is designed for you to be buying replacements throughout scenarios so it's important. Supply does matter because it affects how many units can be deployed and these mechanics play a big part in some campaigns such as the Afrika Korps scenarios. Cutting off units in larger sweeping maneuvers is quite useful in some scenarios especially ones that are quite long.

I sort of got tired of all the comments about how "vital" the supply system is, when it really didn't seem that way. Honestly, it's surprising how little it actually does.

A good way to look at supply and efficiency only affecting attack and not defence, is a tank running out of shells. Yeah, it can't shoot back but it doesn't make it's armour any easier to penetrate though because it can't fight back you able to bring more firepower to bear on it without repercussion.

I've been enjoying this game a load! Bought it for PS4 and it came with blitzkrieg and I bought the Pacific dlc for a variety!

So I was playing blitzkrieg a year or so ago and I believe it was the Greece mission I could be wrong, have you got past that? Bc it's the reason I stopped playing and now I'm trying it again, I lost mission bc I only needed 1 turn to win and I didn't have it 😂

@@digitalworms I think I just had terrible luck on the Greece mission, I got the marines also and have only played 2 or 3 missions, you will like it if you like blitzkrieg it puts a mix of things in marines everything from ships to tanks to little boats, the AI in marines is very aggressive imo 😂

@@digitalworms no I haven't I'm always on the look out for war strategy games though, I'll have to check that out, I been playing sudden strike 4 and playing order of battle again, I wish they had more strategy war games for console, order of battle is a good one though in that regard

Nope, but it would be possible to use this map to find out. Maybe next time I play, I'll check it.

@@TheEdmon also, another point to consider, in PzC out of supply units cannot attack, is the same true in OOB

@@Brodrick32 They only can't attack if their efficiency is zero. Which takes time. But this is the same for Panzer Corps 2, unless you stack suppression on.

I would say so, it's very hard to play on a controller in my opinion.

I got really really pissed off at this game a year or so ago and just stopped playing it, not bc its a bad game, i think its great, but i was doing a mission on german side and i lost the mission by not having 1 turn left to win, i played it again same mission, destroyed most the enemies again and lost the mission again bc i didnt have 1 turn, i played it one more time and same result, lost bc of 1 turn, i couldnt take it after that but now im trying it again, good vid btw its ashame this game doesnt have a good manual

Thanks for the longest I would run out of supplies please do one on the placements of cargo ships on long missions I fall short on supplies

You can't repair a unit that isn't supplied, so I don't know how you can say supply isn't important. Also, an army that can't deal damage through inefficiency is useless.

I said it's not as important as everyone makes it out to be, not that it's not important. If your just defending or holding a position, it actually matters surprisingly little.
