As an American, I am easily confused by the various ribbons and “chains” or items with the large gold lots. I have tried to understand the British order of the Garter and Sweden’s similar Order of Seraphim. I am trying to figure out why these various orders are joined with light blue sashes. I have noticed many a royal outfit clashing with the color in the sashes. I have tried to look up information explaining the sashes and if there are color changes within each order. I don’t know where to turn to understand the European and Asian order memorabilia. Do you have any suggestions of a good documentary?
Can you or a viewer tell me, why you would sell your medals? I don't understand it. You get awarded with some of the most rare decorations and sell them afterwards?
I think it's because there are families where the members don't appreciate the legacy of these honours. And those recipients prefer to see these do on to the hands of collectors instead. Unfortunately I know of stories like these and it's not uncommon.
Order of the Royal House of Chakri was awarded to commoners in the past who were Secretary, Companion and Officer of the Orders those are different insignias and obsolete. Only Knights and Dames is still active.
