I still have a copy of the Groundwork lp the day it came out, bloodlink fella brought a handful of them to a Philly show, the covers weren't ready yet, so he made makeshift ones out of blue cardboard, with the cover art stapled to it lol (I think staples). The cover art was probably kinkod but it looks awesome.
Eli I was born in 1865 in the southeastern United States of America On this my plantation, on this my plantation So simple until that day Lying in the hot sun, lying in the hot sun Tried to wake him but he would not awaken Asked my father but did not question Saw it fall, saw it fall onto the blade of grass (drop the bucket and run) I thought it made him free, I thought it made him Free (run away, get away) Wish I would have said this before When I was still alive I thought that I was so free Thought that you might learn from my mistakes but you've only regenerated all the things I've come to know and hate You thought that you were so free but you're more of the same* than he could ever be I saw it fall The last drop to the bucket And I thought it might have made him free *unsure Lay Down and Die I long to live again to be a part of this creation to be a part of this procession Saw the procession going by and it lead me to such sweet regression. This is why he said that I would be the one and only This is why he said that I would be the sacrifice This is why he said that I would lose my freedom. That I would lose. And I let it slide And I lay down here and die It cuts me in two When I let it slide it cuts me so deep
