The Orea V3 is my current favorite filter brewer, in fact it has been for a long time! This is why I like it and my normal go to recipe.

I love your videos man! Always excited to see a new upload from you. The production value and quality of content are both incredible. It'd be cool to see something about a coffee siphon from you one day. I use one daily and professional content on siphons is lacking. Keep up the great work!

It’s funny cause I think about how many brewers I have and it feels like a waste! I hardly ever use them, like muscle memory I just grab the Orea! 😝

That´s a good, solid recipe. I´ve been brewing with OREA since its day 1 on the market, been an early bird. I like to use 13 to 13.5g coffee (ground between 275 to 600 micron, depending on bean variety/altitude/processing method). 30 - 70g bloom up to 45 seconds, then pour up to 240g water in 30g pours.

Nice!!! So you’re doing a 1:18 then? I haven’t experimented much with larger ratios on filter like I have on espresso, I’ll have to give this a try. Thanks for sharing and watching! 😊

lol should I get this one when I go to Barcelona this Easter as it's sold in a shop less than 14 min walk from my hotel. I have so many: Hario V60 metal,glass,plastic,copper,Tetsu Kasuya ceramic and Switch Kalita Wave metal,glass,ceramic Origami ceramic Beehouse Bonavita immersion ceramic dripper Chemex Able Kone for Chemex Fellow Stagg X Fellow Duo Steeper Walküre Karlsbader French Presses Eva Solo Coffee maker Espro travel press Cona Syphon Sowden Softbrew Favorites are Walküre Karlsbader and Origami. I sometimes use the Hario V60 copper and Chemex in the countryside to brew larger batch. Ps. Fellow Duo Steeper V2 I got very cheap at a thrift store and I would never pay anything for it and certainly not the high price it was sold at when it was in production. It is heavy and unstable in your hands,it got sharp edges that I cut myself on,the cup is no cleaner than the Able Kone and it's pain in the ass to clean it. And I also got the Cona syphon very cheap at a thrift store but I think it's worth the high retail price. I admit I'm addicted coffee junkie 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@coffeenerdaaron I was kinda struggling with it the first couple of days, but I think I’ve got it figured out now. I went back and watched your video again and it was the point you made about how the Orea enables you to grind much finer that made it all click into place for me. I was grinding about medium-ish and using 210° water. Now I go much finer and brew at 200°, which gives me way more enjoyable results. I’m finding it similar to using my Hario Switch where grind size seems to have the greatest impact on balancing body and clarity, and brew temp balances bitterness and acidity. Hope that makes sense.

Great video as always! To be completely honest I don’t think this recipe would work without a melodrip. You would have too much agitation and cause clogging. Perhaps if you had a *super* low fines coffee you could get good results, it generally I think less pours would be good without a melodrip (I use two pours with the Ode 2 and Orea v3).
@coffeenerdaaron
@coffeenerdaaron Год назад
Yes you would need to pour very gently if not using a Melodrip which is why I recommend it. Maybe I should have made that more clear!
@coffeenerdaaron
@coffeenerdaaron Год назад
I just did a brew without the Melodrip and without changing grind size it did run a bit slower as to be expected. If not using a Melodrip I would loosen up the grind to get your desired flow rate for the coffee and taste you like. Experimentation is always the key! 😝

Nice! I love the simple pouring structure. Im currently doing some testing with Orea v3 vs StaggX, brew times, temp stability.
@coffeenerdaaron
@coffeenerdaaron Год назад
Nice! Yeah the simplicity is why I do this recipe. There are better ways to maximize but this gets a darn good cup with minimal effort and thinking 😜

What results have you seen
@sinefabula
@sinefabula 2 месяца назад
I found it interesting that you’re using a melodrip which decreases agitation, and, at the same time, a five-pour method which, vice versa, increases agitation. What if you just cancel those out :) and use a two-pour method like 50g bloom, 100g at 0:45 and another 100g at like 1:30? Would that give similar results, what do you think? Anyway, great video. I began worrying about my growing brewer range but now I’m not worried anymore having seen your collection 🙃
@coffeenerdaaron
@coffeenerdaaron 2 месяца назад
@@sinefabula that’s a great point! And you’re probably right. My pouring structure is always evolving and I honestly don’t use the mellow drip much at all anymore. And to be completely honest I haven’t used the Orea much lately either, I’ve gone back to pretty much only using the V60 and Pulsar. As my taste has evolved over the years I have found for most coffees the Orea, or any flat bottom doesn’t always give me the vibrancy and clarity I want. The V60 with a courser grind has been really hitting for me lately. I also haven’t been drinking as many crazy funky or heavily processed coffees, which I think the flat bottom and mellow drip helped to tame a little. I’ve done back to mostly washed and cleaner naturals so for the V60 has been really nice. 😊
@sinefabula
@sinefabula 2 месяца назад
@@coffeenerdaaron interesting what you’re saying about flat bottoms. I’ve just received my Varia Flo which is quite similar to Orea in geometry but made of double-walled steel. I’ve not made many coffees with it yet but so far I’m noticing it’s always emphasising chocolatey notes in different beans which results in somewhat muted cups. I’ll try to adjust my technique but I’ve never noticed V60 do anything like that.

1:45 you forget that you have to have a very good grinder when grinding finer and this actually make it less consistent. With coarser brews you are the most consistent unless you have money to spend on expensive grinders

Thank you for the kind comment!! I would recommend checking out @melodripco on instagram or just google search MeloDrip. I think it’s probably easiest to buy directly from him but sometimes decent specialty coffee shops carry them, just depends on where you are and what’s near you, but directly from him online is probably your best bet.
