Try a CBN wheel on it. Huge improvement, mainly because the edge doesn’t get hot, so it doesn’t get brittle which is impossible to avoid with an abrasive. Also no dressing. No sparks either so less fire risk in a dusty shop.
Your 10° drop is made for chisel chain and semi chisel Oregon recommended for those 2 type of chain and then if you will look on your chain guide backside there should be a little screw you can set to make that guide tighter when you pull the arm😁😉
@@rc391995 thanks! thats what i meant. I am trying to source a cbn wheel locally right now but its hard to find in my area so i may have to order one online.
thanks for the viedo, I just ordreed one of these the other day. So I'm taking a shot in the dark as I havn't had one right in front of me...but that clamp...I see there are allen nuts fore and aft ends of that clamp the chain sits in...when it is open, is the the gap the same for each end? I wonder if that allen screw on the right side will adjust to reduce the gap, giving you better clamping space.
it depends. I ground the stone flat so I don't need to adjust the angle every time I cut rakers. i am thinking about getting another cheap machine just for rakers. check out my other video with the CBN wheel on the grinder! good eye!
belle vidéo, dommage qu'il insiste trop sur les gouges quand il les affutent, ça les fait chauffer, les gouges n'aiment pas trop, il faut absolument y aller par petit coup et en douceur.
Ok Mr. Real cutter this grinder is $350 CDN. The Simington is over $2100 usd. You cant compare them. for 2k ill put in another 2k and buy an auto grinder haha. Oregon makes 2 auto grinders that would poop on a Simington.
Just my opinion I think you are spending to much time on a tooth and overheating it. I would get the CBN wheel will do a much better job and won't overheat your chain as bad
Appreciate your opinion. I take long on each tooth because it heats up to much if you drop the blade to hard so i keep tapping to keep heat down. I will get a cbn wheel for sure. Hopefully it keeps it a bit cooler. Thanks for the advice!!
You'll love that wheel. You can sharpen at least 700 chains and maybe a 1000 if you hold your mouth right. That won't happen with that pink wheel. When you make your adjust ment move the advancer I don't know what else to call it move it just against the tooth lock the cam. Don't turn machine on. Take your two fingers and move the wheel back and forth each way for an inch if the wheel is touching the stone and your not straining your guts out to move it that's basically what you want .. Try it one time and see if you don't like what you see. If its not agreeable with you yet turn it a hair more you can do that till you like it but the first one is generally going to be enough. I see people mostly take off a couple of milimeters and I grit my teeth you can see the tooth disappear. You can tell them to watch their video and watch the chain disappear and it makes them so mad they delete my post. They don't know what they are doing. Everyone has to learn but there is right and there is wrong. And a CBN wheel on a good Oregon grinder you can't beat it you'll love it. Jyst don't eat your chains up in 3 sharpening. I do take a file and will file it three or four times before I put it on grinder again . we all know what a nail a rock and what dirt will do it happens and its jyst hard to avoid sometimes with the best of efforts. Good luck man.
I said see if wheel touches stone. That's not right I meant see if wheel touches tooth move it either way a couple of inches if the wheel and tooth are making contact that's all you want. You can look and if it don't suit you yet give it a little more twist. Its better doing it that way than taking off to much the first time. You can't put it back. This way will make your chain last a lot longer .. Them things ain't cheap you should get at least 6 and maybe 8 grinding from a chain . touch him up with a file Eve couple of hours don't hurt nothing to hit it with that a couple of licks it won't make it cut any worse. Good luck man.
Some teeth are different sizes from field sharpening with a Dremel or hitting stones in log piles. Some teeth need more work than others. good eye 👍🏻 check out my other video with the CBN wheel!
@@ED-es2qv it is a good grinder. They make more expensive ones and cheaper ones. Both are good. Some are better. That guy is just a troll nevermind him
