Oregon DLC Review (American Truck Simulator)

I live and truck in Oregon this dlc is awesome super accurate. The truck stop in Portland is called jubitz and its known as the worlds classiest truck stop and its remodeled super accurately here. Same goes for 7 feathers in Medford

I'll forgive you for not knowing this, but there's actually something quite unique about Bend, Oregon! It's home to "Bend Studio" which will be releasing the new IP game "Days Gone" for the PS4! It's also the home of my son who is one of the artists working on Days Gone!

Did I see correctly painted MAX light rail in Portland? Wow.

So exciting! I am born/raised in Oregon, and I was a truck driver for many years! I had no Idea they had OR! So accurate!

They hit a home run here, i used to deliver furniture all over the state and it just feels familiar. They did serious research, theres truck stops where they are in real life, lots of pieces of road are very true to reality. I84 in particular is probably my favorite.

Ontario, Oregon is a tiny city. You are thinking of Ontario, Canada I think.

I have enjoyed all your videos about trucking. I come from a family of truckers. I have never driven trucks myself but was a worker at a plant that assembled lights for trucks, police cars, emergency trucks, etc.

Oregonian checking in from the Valley of Sickness. This map is even better than the sneak peeks made it look. The big goofy freeway interchange at I-5 and 126 (exits 194A and 194B) is real, and is actually right between Springfield and Eugene; the exit a couple miles north at Gateway/Beltline skirts the northern edge of Springfield and Eugene in that immediate area. BTW, Salem is pronounced SAY-lum; Ontario is On-TARE-e-oh (tare rhymes with scare); Nevada is Ne-VAD-uh (vad rhymes with bad) rather than Ne-VODD-uh. But you more than made up for that by pronouncing Oregon correctly, which two-thirds of Americans can't manage to do. Other'n that, GREAT review! Gotta get back to it. Dragging 118,000 pounds worth of lift truck from Sac up to The Dalles in a K100 with a screamin' Jimmy. Sun ought to be coming up about the time we hit K-Falls...

As an Oregonian who has driven half way across the U.S I can say that Oregon is by far the most beautiful state I have ever visisted, the mountains, Oceans, forests, dunes, everything. Also Newport is one of my favorite place to visit, it is the biggest coastal tourist town in Oregon. 101 is a very beautiful drive, I love it.

Where on earth do you get DOS Music from DOMUS? Anyway, SCS did a great job recreating the Moda Center, which is the basis for the fictional DOMUS Arena in the game, it's where the Portland Trailblazers play at.

They did an amazing job, I was in northwest Oregon a couple months ago and man they nailed it. Amazing...

Ahhhh. Astoria... Oregon. I lived in Astoria for 5 years and drove all of those roads many times. Such a beautiful place. I had a VW golf that handled corners like a go kart and those roads are a joy to drive on a sunny day! Getting caught behind a logging truck was horrible for me as passing lanes are few and far between. Now I can be that lumbering logging truck that people get stuck behind! If anyone is looking for an amazing vacation, drive down the entire west coast of US. Start near Seattle and the temperate rain forests and make your way down as it gets warmer and dryer the farther you go. The views and vistas are breath taking.

Hey Paul, thanks for the review. FYI, Salem is pronounced "SAY-LEM". Also I spotted the MAX (Metropolitan Area Express) train with SCS-MET logo....and the big arena in Portland is called Moda Center, home of the Portland Trailblazers.

I spent 3 months travelling the north west coast and drove the whole length of the 101 one of the best drives of my life. Will definitely check this out. Thanks for sharing :).

1. You should really do a Travel Channel series or give tour guides. And I applaud you for pronouncing "OAR-uh-gən" correctly! 2. Noticed a Safeway Supermarket (Cafeway) at 9:02. It's a regional Supermarket chain on the west coast but had never seen this reference in ATS up to this point! That's gotta be the reference as the logo, that red "S" like shape is almost spot on.

The big hill east of Pendleton is called Cabbage. It has a very long and Storied History.

The Best Review Of Oregon DLC

Personally, when I look at this, it looks amazing. Then I look outside and I can see the extreme attention to detail. Fun fact: the state is actually a dessert but the Western most part is just so wet. Oregon is not just my home state but my favorite one because of how vast it is. This DLC captures it perfectly.

At 3:30 when you recommended HW 101. Oh man. If only you could be there driving down all day just soaking it all in. Oregon has some amazing scenic routes and Byways. And the coastal cities/towns are just so cool.

I LOVE the live radio ... It's so SO REAL to play and listen to a live DJ .. This morning I heard the traffic report and player count on all servers etc .. Let them KNOW , Their doing a GREAT JOB .

Why is there a firefighter cutting logs at 7:31?

It's a pretty good representation, at least in the Portland-Eugene-Troutdale-Astoria area that I'm familiar with!

i’m kinda surprised they made eugene and bend so small lol, they are pretty big cities in oregon, bigger than salem I’d think, salem is just our state capital.

This is a great map expansion, love how much more detailed map expansions from SCS are getting, reminds me of a deliver my co driver and I did back when we used to work for Swift, hauling for Monster Jam. Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM to "Domus Arena" in Portland, OR, Moda Center is it's real name. What a journey, saw a car crash in Salt Lake City, UT as well as got delayed there due to snow, broke down in Idaho (coolant leak) stuck on the side of the road for six hours, then wait another 3 for the truck to get repaired, got stuck in Troutdale, OR because of snow again.

im more hyped for next ets2 dlc because south finland it being added i hopefully can setup my garage there and i hope espoo is include but its probably gonna be just Helsinki

They have started using 2 map teams, as Andrej told us in the livestream on 6-27-18 so we should start to see more content. I'm not sure that SCS can get the DLCs out more quickly, but, quite frankly, I don't want them to skimp on quality. In the near future we should see more than one DLC worked on and released in the same time period as Oregon. Also, the Oregon DLC came out 3 months ahead of the time it took them to release New Mexico, but don't expect any more reduction in time taken, unless you are a fan of sloppy work. Good things take time, but as I said, you can expect more DLC from the same time period.

Hahaha, i can attest to the 101 being a beautifull drive in real life, drove it in 2015, will drive it again next April as i'm visiting friends in Oregon. Thanks for the Review Squirrel, great work!

Im in the final weeks of Heavy Truck studies and about to embark on the jobs of a long distance trucker US Canada...ill try this game.

I haven't played in a year, and I've come back to washington, utah, and oregon.....and soon enough idaho. SCS has stepped up.

The second add-on pack I bought for Microsoft Train Simulator was Maple Leaf Tracks' Cascade Crossing which is mostly in Oregon and includes places like Klamath Falls, and Oregon is the second DLC for ATS. So, I guess it all comes full circle.

I did the coastal road last night and the scenery looks great.

My friends from the UK asked me where Oregon is located you guys learning US States from this game 😉 If you see any Routes in Blue they are called Interstates, so Interstate 5 is called I-5.

That is the same 101 that goes all the way down to San Diego if you follow it the whole way. It really is right ON the coast in Oregon. If you drive south on it, on your right ocean, on your left forrested mountains for mile after mile. Tiny towns only dot it occasionally. The 101 south of Newport to Eureka in California has got to be some of the most physically isolated parts of the US with national forests blocking further inland development and no major freeways for a hundred miles.

Will we see trucking diaries in Oregon?

Salem is pronounced "Say-lem" (weird huh?) just for future reference, but really great review, I'm even more excited to truck in my home state now!

Can't wait till they get to the Northeast, especially New England and my home state of Maine! We've got some great scenery up here!

It one the best maps I added good showing of it and I got for £6 so was a good buy for a good DLC

There is only one unfortunate aspect to this map. This map DLC is so good, that it makes the rest of the USA that they mapped for launch not just dated, but carbon dated, especially California and Nevada to the greatest extent, and Arizona to a lesser extent. I don't know what SCS will do about that problem, but it will be interesting to find out how they do it.

Man, I want to like this game but the off ramps are a total killer for me. Maybe once New England comes I'd be interested, providing every off ramp isn't a strait shot you stall on... Great review non the less! Thanks!

The domus arena is most likely a spinoff of the Moda Center.

I hope they make Washington, That's where I live.

"There's nothing really special about Bend." As an Oregonian, I can confirm! (Sorry if you're from Bend but it's true). Wish this DLC had more Cascade mountain roads. I didn't see, or at least notice, Mt Hood at all in this video or in any promo. Love that they included the MAX though (the streetcar-thing in Portland)

Ontario, OR has a population of 11,366 people. Portland has about 650,000 and close to 2.5 million in the metro area. Not surprising that they are not comparably sized in the game.

i used to drive the i5 highway alot as a truck driver, was very pretty especially driving through Shasta Lake.

You also go through a little bit of Idaho south of Ontario!

You almost got the pronouncement of Salem right. It’s Salelem( the first isn’t used. And it’s the Capital of the state. Here is the list of capitals so far California, Sacramento Nevada, Carson City Arizona, Phoenix New Mexico, Santa Fea Oregon, Salem

You forgot to mention that you get to drive through a little bit of Idaho on the most easterly part of the DLC!

i am in love with newport and coos bay. you can imagine my disapointment when i came to the discovery that you cant buy a garage there. ive been nagging scs for months now in hope they will give us one. if theres anything you can do help is much apreciated. ; )

i was surprised to see the housing development and construction finally in-game. I wondered why it wasn't in the CA or NV maps (or even AZ) where it is much more prominent, but now that they have the assets, maybe they will start to "touch up" some of the more empty spaces in the older map areas. Or Modders will ;-)

SCS did VERY well on the things they aimed at. I do feel that they over-compressed I-5. Like, maybe they didn't give themselves enough of a canvas to work on. It's odd going from the South County Scales (Douglas County, just a few moments north of Canyonville) to Eugene in a moment. you're looking at roughly going from Mile Marker 110 to 194. I understand the fact they have to compress quite a lot, but I do feel that they could have done more with a larger canvas. By the way I live about 20 miles north of Canyonville. 101 felt pretty good though. I haven't been East of the Interstate yet though. THE ONE THING I want them to add is Highway 42. They'd need Exit 119 on I-5, a short jaunt on 99 into Winston (yes that's where I am) and 42 takes you directly to Coos Bay. would save A TON of time. Long Haul trucks aren't really encouraged to be on Highway 42, but Locals are on it a lot. Log trucks and chip-trucks are the main traffic besides tourists. Someone like me would LOVE driving 42 in a truck because its NARROW and winding. By adding 119, they'd also be inclined to add the Love's truckstop that's there too. By the way Salem is "Say-Lem"
