Just found your channel and subscribed. Thank you for the great video. Going to binge watch all your other ones. I am heading down from north Idaho tomorrow to fish that area all the way to gold beach were I had some good success a couple years ago. Will be fishing for 6 days up and down the Oregon coast for perch. After watching your video I am extremely excited now to head down. Definitely going to try that area you told us about. It’s nice to see a fellow fisherman who is not greedy about giving up spots to help other fishermen. I do the same up here in north Idaho to help fellow hunters and fishermen. life is too short not to help others. :) Ur chances go way up buy using sandshrimp for bait. make sure u uses spider thread to help keep is on the hook. when u watch my videos, look for the spots in them where i try and guess where the action is. reading the waves is key. Don't forget the beaches change rapidly here so the beach will be different day to day depending on ocean forces. hope u enjoy our coast and best of luck!
forgot to add, look at my crabbing videos if ur coming from idaho. u'll want to at least try it. if u really want to catch, u can rent boats/traps here for a day.
Couldn't tell if you kept any of the fish you caught. Do you keep your catch and how are they for eating? I've heard mixed reviews and was wondering what you thought and how you prepared them. Thanks
they are actually very good eating but i'm a very lazy angler. that's why i use plastics and don't want to clean the fish i catch. i used to eat them when i first got here but not so much anymore. i'm a senior citizen and don't eat much meat. but most will fillet them taking out the pin bones as well, soak in egg wash, dip in bread crumbs and then fry. I used an air fryer and it was awesome fixed that way. they majority of our members use them in fish tacos. if u keep ur catch, make sure u bleed them right away as the meat is much better that way when u get home. i would say it's my 3rd favorite fish: halibut, salmon and then perch. make sure u cook it well though as like all fish, some have worms. this happens in store bought fish as well. here's a good example when i went with my friend, PK Yi. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DUjtkDpeTn0.html
many ask me this and it's becuz i'm 70 yrs old and have a right elbow problem so i hold my rod upside waiting for bites. when i get a bigger fish, i switch cuz i can't pull in a big fish with my left. i do this so i can fish longer as otherwise, the pain gets to me. thanks for asking!
