Several buildings and homes were destroyed in wildfires that swept through Marion County, Clackamas County and Mill City, Oregon, on Tuesday after residents were told to evacuate the region.
Firefighters continue to battle the uncontrolled U.S. wildfires driven by high winds and unprecedented temperatures threatening communities in Oregon, Washington state and California.
Oregon governor declared an emergency on Wednesday and the first day of school was postponed as a wildfire threatened towns, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported.
About 100,000 customers lost power amid windstorms and fire, and power was shut off to about 5,000 residents west of Mt. Hood to prevent sparks that might start new blazes, it said.
