Organic Regenerative Farming is the Future of Agriculture | The Future of Food

In this film, organic market gardeners Frank and Josje talk about why the supermarket system doesn't work and how Community Supported Agriculture fits into a new story for food growing. CSA members help farmers to grow the best quality vegetables and to nurture healthy soils by committing to receive a vegetable box every week for a season.
That way, the farmer can get on with growing great food and sending it direct to their customers, without having to accommodate the profit-geared demands of the supermarket chains, which drive conventional growers to produce less nutritious vegetables in ways that damage the soil. This is the future of food, a future in which both people and planet are healthier!

Spotted their Dutch accent from the first sentence, so cool that they made it work down under. To the people whining about the plastic, give them a break. We are all on a path to true sustainability, and there are always things to improve... many farms still use diesel powered tractors for example. But that doesn't mean they aren't pushing any boundaries.

Whether carnivore, omnivore or herbivore, the required mono-cultures are damaging. Fundamentally for the future of food the focus has to be on nurturing our soil. Everything depends on that health. Everything. I moved onto a clay property 6 years ago. My first ever experience of a garden, veggie plot. An acre of jelly in heavy rain. Following the principles of this vid we now have giant veggies, supercharged fruit trees and native bush going berserk. It's mind blowing. Do everything you can to nurture nature, too.
@thechaosgardener
@thechaosgardener 4 года назад
This is the strategy that I embrace in my garden (and channel) in the Arizona sonoran desert. All of my neighbors have compacted clay soil and my yard looks like a rain forest. The secret is in the soil. They cant understand why my soil is jet black and theirs is tan and dead. Its all about symbiosis with fungi and bacteria and the spread of nutrients in that symbiotic web. Thanks for sharing.

I really liked this idea. I saw another video of national geography in which the owner of a ranch told that he revived the water table on that ranch which was very very deep when he bought the land. But his simple way of growing grass on the land led to a huge difference . Even the old springs were brought to life. And i think these are the simple things that we all can do and save our environment. And instead of spending millions of dollars we should make these small initiatives. (Nat geo video is -50 years before he bought the land. You should check it out.) Thanks for this video. Keep them coming.

Great film. We are making a conscious effort to buy better quality food and grow much of our own. We also are shifting to support small and family businesses for more goods instead of feeding huge company bottom lines since that money mostly goes to big company CEOs and gives those companies too much control over people. Its time to take our power back. Sharing our experiences and knowledge is key. Thank you for sharing these films. This movement needs to gain traction more quickly and people need to get their heads out of the sand, think creatively and look at the possibilities that can even exist in their own yards. The thing that worries me most is people have become so lazy and complacent.

This is how food should be grown and distributed within the community so that everyone has access to good, healthy food with no chemicals. Its interesting how so many people want to know how food is grown and whats gone in it. I grow my own food as well and have been giving it away at Farmer's Markets because I had so much excess produce of sweet pumpkins.

As far as I understand, not only will you grow nutrient-dense food by farming in this manner, I believe you will also, with cover crops and microorganisms, be pumping carbon back into the ground (through photosynthesis and glommalin formation) from the atmosphere, which will reduce the negative impacts of climate change! Thank you for farming in this manner!
