I spent one of the last days of my autumn vacation organising my desk 🍂✨ m y b e s t r e s o u r c e s free plot embryo course ✦ www.rachaelste... the story magic academy ✦ www.rachaelste... monthly livestream ✦ / rachaelstephen
So glad you took time for yourself, Rachael! You've been working so hard and it'll feel good getting back to work in a nice clean space. One thing though- don't feel like you need to justify purchasing cups...especially ones with stars and sparkles! So cute and so you
aaaaa new video yaaaas. I've been binging your videos this past two weeks to see if I stop being a coward and start writing. This was good to watch, I'm *almost* inspired to organize my own desk and shelves. me: I can simply watch someone else organizing their desk and that almost counts as organizing my absolute pile of crap, right, brain? Is that how it works? brain: stop it
As always, this was really interesting & inspiring to watch! Although I was a little shocked at how much papers you have around - I brainstorm on paper too, but usually those sheets go into the bin as soon as I'm done. And my day job is about 90% digital (freelance translation, even my clients use PDF contracts) which I love! It keeps my desk very clutter-free. But I also get why you like working on paper & writing by hand. :D
I don't' know why I didn't see this last year, but OMGsh - I would lose my mind in that stationery store! :) I liked watching this - I didn't realize last year was the first SMA. I thought it had been around longer. Loved it! :)
I loved this video!! Organising your desk can make such a big difference to your mood and productivity and just your attitude to work and your novels. P.s I always used to buy a postcard whenever I went to Paperchase. Now I moved to Canada I can't and I am SO SAD
I am very, very late on this video, but your aromatherapy cup instantly made me think of this quote from The Haunting of Hill House: “Eleanor looked up, surprised; the little girl was sliding back in her chair, sullenly refusing her milk, while her father frowned and her brother giggled and her mother said calmly, 'She wants her cup of stars.' Indeed yes, Eleanor thought; indeed, so do I; a cup of stars, of course. 'Her little cup,' the mother was explaining, smiling apologetically at the waitress, who was thunderstruck at the thought that the mill's good country milk was not rich enough for the little girl. 'It has stars in the bottom, and she always drinks her milk from it at home. She calls it her cup of stars because she can see the stars while she drinks her milk.' The waitress nodded, unconvinced, and the mother told the little girl, 'You'll have your milk from your cup of stars tonight when we get home. But just for now, just to be a very good little girl, will you take a little milk from this glass?' Don't do it, Eleanor told the little girl; insist on your cup of stars; once they have trapped you into being like everyone else you will never see your cup of stars again; don't do it; and the little girl glanced at her, and smiled a little subtle, dimpling, wholly comprehending smile, and shook her head stubbornly at the glass. Brave girl, Eleanor thought; wise, brave girl.”
i've added your book to my amazon basket! can't wait to read it. Just have to get the money to buy it but i will eventually i promise. i love supporting youtubers. i need to organise my whole flat!
always cool to see into people's process - thanks for taking us along! Quick question, does the aromatherapy-in-a-mug dissipate well? My concern is for your office-mates.
My coworkers have noticed the smell (but liked it), but the good thing about the mug is that it doesn’t actually spread all that far, maybe just a metre or two.
dang, did not think of using washi tape as plain tape. I know, right? but thanks. I used a lot of layout tape on our newspaper in high school, 30 years ago before digital layout, and I keep forgetting this new-fangled thing called washi tape, haha. Are you NaNo-ing at that desk? Have you ever tried Second Life? I will be doing some NaNo with the group there. Welcome to come say hello! Harriet runs the place. forums.nanowrimo.org/t/milk-wood-of-second-life-lounge/14677
@@zach3540 They're work spaces. Some you can rent spaces, others you can just pop in and use their facilities. A lot of them are around. Very helpful if you find that you want to separate your small business running away from your home space.
Hi rachel..nice to meet u blog in youtube..im sam i writer book like u too but i not good like u..im follow you video vlog make me want to move on in my new book thnk u..
I recommend medicinal grade aromatherapy oils. You might not wanna drink them straight anyhow, but they are safe, and are also safe to put in coconut oil or something and use on skin.
