I actually have a question about the financial aspect of tournament managing. I realize you're speaking about more friendly tournaments, but what about prizes and cost of equipment and consumables and all that? Have you ever had to deal with anything like that?
Hi! If you're trying to generate revenues from your tournament, the top ways to do so would be to charge an entry fee as one of the commenters has suggested, but also look into sponsors. Build a sponsorship package that outlines exactly what the sponsor will get for their money and think of sponsors that could benefit from being exposed to a game tournament audience. Peripheral manufacturers, gaming apparel and even outside of gaming (local restaurants/bars, for instance). If you can't get a cash contribution, think of the things that you will need (A/V equipment and the space) and try to get a sponsor to donate those things in-kind. Good luck with your tournament!

Hi I'm supposed to plan and implement a gaming tournament as a fundraiser for the organization I work with. I'm personally familiar with the gaming world but no one in the office is so I don't have much help. I've never organized or attended a tournament like this and was wondering which of the four styles you would recommend for the flow of the event (idk yet how many ppl will come but were hoping for a pretty big number like say 50+)...would just a round robin work? And what type of games could we play? As PG as possible since it's a community event but like one or two fps would be ok just not mortal combat or smtg...i was thinking smash bros and street fighter...anyways thank you for the video it was rly helpful!
Hi Daphne - quite the undertaking that you have been tasked with. For a non-gaming audience - I would think about games like Mario Kart 8 or Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort. For Mario Kart 8 - single elimination. For Wii Sports - highest score for bowling. With these games, you only need one console, one set of controllers, a screen and maybe a whiteboard for scoring. I would avoid something like Smash Brothers unless you have people who love that game and maybe avoid a game like Call of Duty or Halo 5 just because you need more game consoles and TVs. Good luck!
Jacob McCourt hi that wasn't very helpful, smash can incorporate 4 players while so can halo and Cod, you refer to WII resort and Mariokart which both need one console and can play up to 4 players as well. In the area of all family fun and most pathetic system available then I agree with you completely but when it comes to a system that has higher graphic quality and total overall better experience than the piece of crap referred to as the WII and WII U. Lastly I will be aiming for 13+ age group which I doubt any would enjoy playing WII resort. I will be taking super smash, tekken 7 and street fighter 5 or 4, I was hoping you'd be able to add to those areas :) please no family friendly/crapy games would be much appreciated :) have a great day
Daphne Sauvé Halo 5 does not allow split screen. The newest Call of Duty has 2 player split screen I believe. And smash absolutely has up to 8 players. Here are some other suggestions... Towerfall, Nidhogg, Gang Beasts, Sportsfriends, Videoball or Capsule Force. A lot of sports games work too... Madden and NHL.
I never referred to which halo I will be including but I will keep that In mind as well as trying to figure out which COD to use. Smash will have to be on wii U to have 8 players which isn't a terrible idea. I will look up the other titles you included and I thought of sports games but now I kind of see how that could possibly work. Thank you for the suggestions and have a great day.
how big's the room? you may be limited by space & power availability. I wouldn't put all of the console/Tv setups on one power cable btw, you'll short or burn it out in no time and your setup will be super cramped! Get back to me at any time, I've run quite a few gamenights successfully featuring 10-15 consoles and may have some knowledge to help.
I was thinking of using my garage at the moment- my concern is the my internet- but do you think there is a way to host 5 vs 5 call of duty matches without internet-
@@Dj1nfernotv The short answer is no, because you need internet to connect the consoles, another way would be to hard-wire from console to router or Ethernet splitter via Ethernet cabling (cabling's pretty cheap). Either way you do need internet to make a team of 5.
Unfortunately - I'm not familiar with NBA 2K7, but I'm sure some of the broad tips here can be applicable. I would eventually like to update this video. Stay tuned. ;)

I'm not too familiar with the FIFA 17 games - I would just be fearful of how long the games can get... perhaps look for multiple set-ups to keep things moving.
